confusing manual

It says in the manual that by pressing R2 when your opponent makes a tackle you can jump over the tackle. What does this mean? and does it actually work?

It works if an opponent is coming in with a sliding tackle.

Hit R2.

The player dribbling with the ball pushes it bit further ahead of himself, then skips over the sliding tackle.

Works sometimes, otherwise you could use R2 and drag the Left stick diagonally towards the tackler, to side-step into him, get the free-kick, and get an opponent booked or sent off.

I guess to avoid the side-step you have to hit R2 and continue running in the same direction.

Its in the Training section, and covered in the dribbling part of the Beginners Lesson there.

If I press R2 when my player is slide tackled he just does a step over.

its handy if your opponent looks like he's gonna take you down (last man back and all that). skip the challenge and run through one on one - you can't guarantee a sending off every time and injuries to star players are a pain in the arse.

But normally it doesn't work for me and I have to press it repeatedly. As you mentioned in your last post it doesn't guarantee a sending off, when really it should, something konami should change me thinks.

Im sure it's ok if your man hacks down a forward only to be given a yellow card, you can't beat that. suppose it depends on which referee is doing the game.
