Console to PC

I have been a FIFA buyer since god knows when, so when I heard that PES was coming to PC I thought that finally someone would come along and show ea sports how to make a proper football game and I wouldn't have to shell out just because there was no competition. Needles to say I was very excited.
I have never played PES in any format but knew it was rated very highly simply from hearing everyone talk about it.
I got my copy ( a day early from gameplay.com????) and started playing. One thing is very apparent. This game is NOT made for PC. It is very clear that its roots are console and arcade which I suspected it would be from the demo. Imagine my surprise when I recieve a "GAME OVER" screen after dabbling in the transfer market and not having enough POINTS left. "POINTS", "GAME OVER" If I wanted points or game over I would go and play asteroid or a f*#@ing pinball machine! Someone forgot to tell the nice people at konami this is supposed to be a football simulation and the only thing we are interested in is whooping Man U.
The screens and menus are in need of some serious improvement as well. Complicated and unneccessarily tricky to navigate at the best of times. On this point, bring back EA. At least if I wanted to change something I could do it without having to guess which buttons to press.
It seems that Konami wanted to release their game at a similar sort of time to fifa and take their piece of pie without waiting to fully make the transition to PC. I don't care much for squares, triangles or circles and very nearly got the hump with this game.
Then I finally got to the action. All I can say is that it is unequalled, way ahead of Fifa and anything else in its class. Player AI, movement and control is quite brilliant. It is a breath of fresh air compared to the same old rubbish EA have to offer. It's the only thing that will make me keep it and after all that is the most important thing.

You are joking..... you have GOT to be joking!!!!

The menu system in FIFA 2004 is the absolute WORST I have ever come across in over 20 years of computer gaming on all formats.

In career mode in FIFA you had to scroll forever just to see how many points you had in the league table. In PES the table comes up in full before every game (assuming you have the tunnel sequence switched on)

Also, did you ever try to compare statistics between two squad members in FIFA? You obviously haven't! I suggest you try. Yes.... TRY! FIFA is a complete joke in this respect. In PES you just select one player, then another player to compare with, and about 20 different stats are instantly lined up side by side.

I'll just say this.... I bought FIFA on day of release, and two days later gave up totally because of the ridiculous menu system that just had to have been designed by Stevie Wonder!
