Ive owned all pes games and have been playing football computer games since the spectrum days.
Good things about PES2012. I'm enjoying it so far. I don't feel how talking about the good stuff is going to improve the game. Plus I have a long list of issue and possible improvements.
Issues and possible improvements.
PS3 version 1.01
BAL.
Its too easy to get signed by big teams.
To easy to make the starting line up for big teams.
Too easy to get world player of the year.
Too easy to get in the national team.
Theres a good chance you can achieve all this in 1-3 seasons.
CPU controlling your player movements. Get rid of automated player control and super cancel and replace with a button to help you be sucked towards the ball or correct position. i.e. the opposite of super cancel. This will stop the feeling of being on rails but also get round the problem of turning it into kick off where the hardest part of the game was getting your player to get the ball.
Speed. You shouldn't really get much faster as you get older. Barry has always been slow and will always be slow. Walcott has always been fast and will be fast until he gets old or badly injured (like Owen)
Get rid of scripting completely. The AI is good enough now not to need it.
Fix the rating system. The cpu still can't gauge when a player is playing well or not. Also, why is it only between 5.5 and 8 ish?
The known issue where it doesn't rate you, you can't alter the game speed and you can control the whole team.
Have higher game speeds when you aren't playing. +5 +10 for instance
Be a Boss
My manager has sold 7 players but has yet to even look like buying someone in 3 seasons. Bug?
Have more managers
Give each team a manager with different stats and they can move between teams.
More manager interaction.
Master league (haven't played it yet)
Option to move teams, get sacked etc.
Other teams managers move about.
Each manager has their own stats and effect the team they manage.
General
Too many free kick goals
Cross ins too good. (On the run. Facing the wrong way. Sliding kicks)
Headers need some work. Most corners and crosses end with a loopy half header. Long balls are too easily won by attackers. This is probably more a positioning and jostling problem.
Step overs. Too many players run at defenders doing multiple stepovers whilst the defender backs off.
Dribbling. reduce some players abilities to keep the ball close and under control when dribbling.
Make players more likely to take possession or touch a ball that goes near them.
Make players more aware of the ball and when they should be trying to get it. (not waiting for a team mate to get it who isn't positioned as well)
Bring back the manual cursor change. Please. I hate semi assisted. This could fix the cursor change problem with 2 players on the same side.
Goalies have an issue catching high loopy balls.
Improve goalie footwork so they move across the goal before diving. Some slow shots that currently unrealistically go in would be saved then. The diving generally seems ok.
Passing needs a bit of a tweak in terms of manualness. The power bar feels a tad random.
First time passes sometimes only travel a yard or 2, this has no bearing on direction faced, how long you hold the button.
Shooting. I don't think it is shooting in the direction you have chosen every time.
Penalties. Ive had 8 out of 11 saved. I feel that the cpu might be using its unfair advantage.
Replace super cancel with super take control of my player as mentioned above in BAL issues.
Please, please get rid of scripting. The AI is good enough now. You can alter the feel of games and seasons using other realistic methods and stats like pressure, concentration, form, consistency, reputation (whether you get man marked etc), will to win (Does the player only really play well against good opposition etc). Then you can at least plan around it, alter you team selection, utilise your squad, change your tactics so you don't just feel cheated out of a good performance etc.
The right change cursor stick. Currently it revolves around the player you are. i.e. press left to be the player to the left of you. Make it an option for it to revolve around the ball. i.e. press left to take control of the player to the left of the ball.
Defenders follow you around a bit too much. Theres man marking and theres just unrealistic, eyes in the back of the head stalking.
Make option files one downloadable file on the PS3, not hundreds. I couldn't care less about licences, but make the option files easier to install.
Make it more customisable, with more leagues etc
Lobbed shots seem a bit flat unless I’m missing something.
Dynamic stamina system where you can replenish your energy by not running for some time. Plus reduce the frequency of sprinting.
Sometimes going for a first time shot makes you do a sliding tackle shot, when you aren’t even under much pressure.
Long passes. The power bar seems strange. Its virtually impossible to over hit a cross field pass, some times a maximum power high pass wont even reach the opposite winger/fullback.
Defenders can miss opportunities to get to long balls and through balls before the forward where the defender has the positional advantage.
That is all i can think of so far.
