Controlled shot actually worth it?

Been blastin pro evo 5 for the past few days, i've had a go with the controlled shot and only really managed a couple of decent goals with it, seems to be less powerfull than the normal shot and a lot harder to use effectively.

What are your best approaches to using it, distances you shoot from etc?

I think its best for first time shots in the box... really for safety only, because you can get some of the most shocking misses from just using square.

I'm using it on 1on1 situations if I want to get the shot curled to the longpost. You'll need the likes of Henry or Shevchenko to score though :)

Other situation is tap-in in the box. I noticed that my shots in the box (direct shot without treapping after pass especially) were regularly blocked (but they seemed unstoppable), so I changed my style of finishing to []+R2. It made a difference, go figure.

having not played the game yet, like most of us, whats the controlled shot all about? Is it how it sounds, less power but more accuracy?

I find its quite good around 20-25 yards with someone who is good at long range shooting and you can get really good curl and dip.

You get some nice goals or some really good saves.
Animation on some of the keepers dives are amazin

the controlled shot is when u press to shoot and then press r2 when the little power guage goes up. this gives the shot more accuracy but less power it can also give a bit of dip and curl as well.works well in and around the box

The controlled shot is actually a side-footed shot. As in real life, you can't get as much power but your placement is less wild.

I think it's worth having as it varies the gameplay and it looks realistic too.

excellent, sounds good! so its basically for them sort of grass cutting (or bending into the top corner, what ever you want really!) shots that curl round the keeper into the net? be scoring sum nice goals with henry using that me thinks!

Basically, yeah. It's the gentle antidote to the laced power shots you always had in previous versions.

that sounds great, i always thought the shooting was pretty weak at times on pro, just not enough variation, and the animations just weren't that realistic. still better than fifa tho! hopefully this years will be a lot better

the r2 shot is a great new adittion to we9 and proevo5 you are now able to make more of you'r goal scoring chances. You can also score some decent goals from outside the box and when you hit them right there unstopable.

Controlled Shot

Isn't this obvious what a controlled shot is?
I'm well pleased at Konami's addition to the game with the new animations. The shot enables you when in a decent opportunity to try and manipulate a curling accurate shot past the goalkeeper rather than just wellying hell out of the ball each time.
On Pes4 sometimes in a one time shot opportunity when i'd score i'd think.. now wouldn't that goal been better if he'd have just side footed the ball and added curl to it.. now you can.. YES!
I'm only playing the PES5 Demo but I am enjoying it, not long to go before the game is released.:D

I use it about 90% of the time and as long as you get the right amount of power it can be deadly...

check out some of these clips..

Joe Cole long range controlled/precision shot:

So imo, they look cool and shouldn't be removed ^^

Im still not entirely sure as to how exactly the shot can be executed. Do you press the R2 button simultaneously as you press square or immediately after, before the player shoots?
