OK, so I've decided that as PES3 is pretty much the only game I play, it will be worthwhile to get an XBOX solely for the purpose of PES with slightly better graphics and online capabilities. but how much will that cost?

XBOX: £100
PES4: £30

So that's the bare minimum, £130. Here are some optional additions:

Additional XBOX controller: £23
Magic Box: £15

The Magic Box would probably be a more likely purchase than the second XBOX controller, as the Magic Box would let me use a PS2 controller for PES4 - in my opinion, preferable. So we're looking at closer to £150 now.

XBOX Live Pack: £30
15m Ethernet Lead: £13

A year's subscription to XBOX Live and the starter kit, in addition to a long lead to hook up my upstairs bedroom's console to the downstairs computer's modem router, makes almost another £50. This brings us to around £200.

Not taking into account eBay where you could doubtlessly pick up an Xbox for about forty quid less, the whole caboodle will cost less than my PS2 did at launch. And I will probably spend more time with it than I will with my AS Level textbooks. What do you guys think, is that price too high for the beautiful game?

P.S. of course I'd have to get both Halo games too.

Buy the X-Box, then get X-box Live and the games for Chrimbo. You could of course do it the other way around!

Christmas no-can do. First of all...I'D MISS LIKE 3 MONTHS' PLAYING TIME! Second, I'm already getting Driving Lessons for birthday/christmas. I have almost all the money already, but it's still a big commitment for such a work-shy teenager.

The beautiful game
imo i felt the price is too high for the beautfull game so i decided to just buy pro evo 4 for the ps2...althought i would of loved to get an x-box its too expensive plus im starting my a-level years so i will have to buy text books etc and plus i wont have to much time to play pro eov 4

The price is indeed very high. I'm lucky enough to have been given a free XBOX (plus hopefully PES4 too, have to wait and see on that) by Konami for being a national PES3 finalist. Otherwise I'm not sure I could afford the whole shebang.

I'll be playing using a PS2 controller on the XBOX using a convertor.

I'll pay anything for the beautiful game... though I already have an Xbox and Live. :p

I'll be buying it for the PS2 and Xbox though, £60.
