Crossing the ball

When crossing the ball, try to do it before you get past the 18 yard box, this way it seems to be delivered into the box at much greater speed and more chance of catching the defence out.

I always find that running up really close to the end line and then vearing in towards the goal at the last second before hitting a cross works really well. Especially if you've got a winger that can really whip it into the box, like Beckham.

This technique usually makes the CPU defenders keep backing towards the goal making a lot more room for your strikers to leap up and connect with headers, or if your lucky, overhead kicks or volleys. When I do it with Beckham (matron!) he usually falls over but the resulting cross is hard, spinning and usually well placed.

It can't hurt to try it, now can it?:)

Crossing with L1+O or
L1+double tap OO seems to be the best methods of crossing.
And you can do them from anywhere.

L1+Triple tap O doesn't do much for me.

I love this site!

I keep learning things I had no idea about despite having the game since the day it was released. like the thing with L1+O for crossing. i was playing when i read it and tried it and scored first time!

another one you guys taught me was that you could control the ball in the air instead of having to try to pass or shoot.

any more magical tips?

Cheers.

There's all sorts.
Someone said they were producing a complete guide to the moves but he hasn't been seen for a while.

Do you know the R1+R2 to manually control the player (to let balls run off the pitch instead of chasing it)?

Dribbling with R1 and then changing direction slighty and using R1+R2 to gain a speed burst is another.

For the manual control, you tap both R1 + R2 and then move the player wherever you want, like away from the ball.

The second is slightly more complicated.
If you manage it, that's great. If not let us know.

Good stuff. I know that guides like this are quite helpful to people. Props to those who make and contribute to them.
