Crossing

Surely the worst aspect of the new game is the crossing. Most of the time the ball goes into the side netting or clears the box altogether. Does anyone else have this problem? Also, how come nobody gets into the box from wide freekicks from 30 metres+ out? Corners are pretty useless as well; either they're too close to the keeper or behind your attackers.

Off the topic a bit but offside gets on my tits. Someone needs to tell Konami level is not offside. You may say that's realism but I'd be happy if it was inconsistant;this happens every single time. I like the inconsistancies of the refs when they give penalties for fouls that happen a yard or so outside the box.

BTW: Fanboy "go buy FIFA then" responses will be ignored.

On the controller settings thing, where you can swap button for button, change the crossing procedure from Type 1 to either Type 4 (my fav) or Type 5... that way its totally manual, else you are letting the AI cross for you... you will need to use L1 and Square to cross semi automatic, or you will need to aim precisly using the left analogue stick or D pad.

I was like you, thought this crossing sucks... but now, its good, takes ALOT of skill and once you get good you can pick players out ala Beckham.

Hope this works for you cuz it definitly does for me.

Difference between Type 4 and Type 5, is that Type 4 will automatically aim long balls for you and type 5 doesn't aim its more like PES4 type... where you kick the ball at every direct angle on the pad...

So thats why i stick with Type 4, manual crosses and automatic long passes!

Hope this helps bud!

iv'e had no prob's crossing the ball you can really split defences when you get it right. As for corners they are still simple to score in two player mode move the player in the box to the near post just infrount of the defender's keep you'r cross below half way and hold tryangle and up to give the ball power and dip.Now all the other player has to do is get his head on it.

Corners are just perfect. I used to do short passes in Corners in PES4 but not anymore. In PES5, I always go for the lob and head. I have had a fair success rate with corners.

Freekicks and corners. You have to look at where ur people are before delivering the freekick or corner. Just like in real football. Take ur time and you should start seeing better results :)

am i the only one who has noticed that big central defenders never come up for a corner. any idea on how to change that?

They came up in PES 4 just fine... You sure they're not coming up?

has anyone esle noticed that there isn't any noticeable difference between the normal cross and the double tap low cross? they seem to come in with same trajectory and aim for same spot. on PES4 there was a tangible difference between the 2 crosses.

In WE9 you have 9 directions to croos to.

For exmple, an OMF might be running behind your two forwards into the opponent's penalty area but slightly further from the center and into the left side of the pitch while your crosser is running into the right side. In that case press UP and BACK on your D-pad with (O).

Also there are the "flick" crosses that require holding R2 when pressing (O)

Not to mention the 3 different cross types:
Tap circle once, twice, or three times

For normal attack I think holding R2 with circle will make for some smooth crosses.

If you're running with a forward, double tap circle

for counter attack 3 taps is effective

That's more than 50 combinations of crosses so it's not that simple.

Crossing is not as good as before but I find that :L1: + :triangle: passing is now really hard. They are overhit so much they go straight into the keeper's arms.

Mine are always there! Dunno how, cause I don`t play Overlap... They just come, and I play either 4-4-2, or 4-4-3...

Defenders in corners come randomly which i think is stupid but corners are still easy to score but its free kicks that really piss me off

I've found that too. Even when just tapping triangle it flies forward.

i've found that an early ball into the box, L1 and O, is now much better than previous pes. They use to just go straight to the keeper but now i find the strikers seem to position themselves better and often pull off the defenders shoulders at the back post for free headers.
