D-PAD makes PES11 the best game of all times -retire from Analogue Stick-

Alright, I know some of you will never be satisfied and some of you will disagree about "the best game of all times part" but whatever thats my opinion I guess. I hope that Amateur doesn't hijack my thread like he does every other one and I hope DIECI doesn't nag with his PES11 frustrations that I already know!

Anyways, since I started playing Konami footie games Ive never used D-PAD. ISS64,98 is pretty much where I debuted. N64 had the stick and then came the PS2 era. I never bothered to use D-PAD until TONIGHT! I know this is lame because half of the world has been playing with DPAD and I just discovered this shit now. I feel stupid but whatever.

What Ive noticed so far with playing PES11 with D-PAD:

- improved gameplay
- improved ball control and body balance. I am able to fight off the defender when he's close by and Im able to escape from difficult situations which looks AMAZING.
- ANIMATIONS: ive seen tons of NEW animations that ive never seen when using analog stick.
- getting back to body balance and ball control. When using dpad this body balance and ball control becomes so FREAKIN HORROFIC that its almost like real freaking football match on the pitch. Ive had been issued numerous yellow cards for pulling shorts and shirts when defending and Ive NEVER had this when I come close to COm to take away the ball.

- receiving ball is a THOUSAND times better
- running forward/backward is MILLION times better.
- the whole pace of the game feels better its like a new gameplay is being activated once you start using dpad.
- PASSING: this is the most difficult part when using dpad on Pes11 since passes are now full manual and 360deg movement. You really have to practice it but in time youll get better and better. Some passes wont be perfect no matte what but in real life they are never perfect.
- Since you have way better ball control and handling the AI will become very stupid and frustrated at times which again is very life like realism. Ive been playing vs the COM and its UNBELIEVABLE when you have good ball control and good possesion how COM can be irritated and the team breaks down AGAIN something we see in real life football.

- the WHOLE defence becomes better since your having wayyy better ball control.

- THIS IS NOT A PLACEBO AFFECT. ive tested this theory a million times now and using analog stick downgrades this game. Maybe thats why many dislikes about PES11 in the recent days.

I love PES11. I was afraid after PES08/09 and even 10 Konami would go out of business but man they nailed this shit pretty good.

Memo to amateur and othe haters: please whatever you do show some signs of maturity and dont post in my thread or any other future thread. I know it will be nothing but negativity. To all others, lets have a civil, respectful conversation about this DPAD theory.

Cheers

Completely disagree D pad is redundant to me and very limited, although pes is the best game ever with analog and especially close control combined. Interesting post though. Using Manual pass with anything other than analog would also be limited.

Fully disagree,

The D-Pad is the reason for why I cannot play PES5 or PES6 anymore: the D-Pad has little to no range of movement, therefore, the number or amount of animations which can be implemented into the D-Pad is very limited.

For a guy who talks about "PES GURUS" from EvoWeb, this is one of the worst arguments I have heard so far: the D-Pad is very restrictive, the fact that you are using the D-Pad in year 2010, the fact that you can actually use the D-Pad in year 2010, highlights just how outdated PES11 really is.

The left analogue stick is not used properly, it still works the same way it worked 15 years ago, which is why you can play PES11 with the D-Pad.

You can cover spaces of over 50 feet of distance by simply directing the left analogue without the assistance of a sprint button; in other words, you can run without the assistance of a running button: in other words, the left analogue stick functions around a d-pad based system.

You have no idea of how and where PES needs to improve, you play PES11 with the D-Pad.

I would give it a try .. anyways you have to keep rediscovering the game else it becomes too monotonous.

I have been a fan since the days of ISS Pro also, and have always used the D pad as I could never get along with using analogue sticks. PES 2011 this time round has been designed to have more accuracy with the analogue sticks, it's taken me a while to get used to something I DID NOT want to use, but now that i am getting the hang of it, analogue sticks give u so many more options in regard to passing etc. Each to their own I know, this is my opinion as I have always in the past been a fan of D pad, but think like many other things in technology, the D pad has almost had its day.

I have always used the D pad & I think its more accurate than the left analogue, saying that I also use a different button config so my sprint isnt R1 or L1 or whichever the default is.. I still think improvement would be 360 motion, or in otherwords 16 compared to 8 we have now.
