Analog all the way for all standard game play. occasional switch to D-Pad for "quick-hit" dribbling tricks such as the sidestep, but anyone who says you get "more control" because the D-Pad has 8 directions and analog has 32 is out of their minds. You are limiting your movements, both with dribbling and shooting! I think it is the old playstation mentality before analog sticks that keep people from evolving. It is okay to be old-school, but why hinder your options? Especially defensively, you need a precise run sometimes to get the angle on somebody, and I can only get that precise with the analog stick.
I think everyone should make a concerted effort to go analog in every PS2 game, but I respect the other side of the fence as well. No need to say that analog is not precise or reliable, I think that is just a matter of practice. When I see someone playing D-Pad exclusively, I write them off as an inexperienced gamer, bottom line. It is up to them to then prove to me they know what's going on, because that D-Pad is Nintendo technology.
Liverpool is screwed this week, by the way. Why can't Kewell play like he does in WE7??
