Defensive AI passivity against wing play and crossing

The AI in the PES 2011 demo is far too passive against normal speed dribbling and it fails to stop crosses all of the time near the corner flag on the highest difficulty. This issue needs to be addressed or the game will be incomplete.

I agree the amount of goals you can score from playing the flanks and hitting in crosses is woeful.

The running bug down the wings or the "not using the run button down the wing" has been fixed before release but I don't know if this will fix the whole problem, i kinda doubt it.

I have seen no official confirmation that this has been "fixed" and if so to what extent. It is unfortunate that the game was not tested properly this year since a bug of this magnitude should have been spotted.

Having said that it still plays much more naturally than fifa 11. But the crossing effectiveness needs to be toned down asap.

Already a thread for this really

http://www.pesgaming.com/showthread.php?t=79623

Also Jon Murphy has apprantly confimed it will be fixed, you can trawl through this and try find out where, someone from the thread i linked above tweeted him...

http://twitter.com/JonMurphy_PES

Personally i dont hold hope it will be fixed, he seems to be playing to the crowds online, saying stuff will be fixed and then saying theres no real changes from the demo to the final version, the only ray of light is that the demo doesnt appear to be the final version, something very near but there should be a change or two in gameplay...

I played my mate last night on pes 2010, he beat me 10-2 in games, in total he scored 32 goals. i can honestly say 30 of the goals came from crosses. I hate pes 2010 mainly because of this advantage you get through crossing.

I can play some nice passing football, but this crossing thing bugs the hell out of me, you just can't defend against it. I pray to god that pes 2011 is not the same.

It's not the same for 2 players or multiplayer. It doesn't happen. THIS WAS AN AI PROBLEM when playing vs COM.

I have never conceded a goal from crosses.
Maybe crosses are a bit overpowered, but certainly you have to time your clearance with the defender just right.
Also, to defend crosses try hitting the X button with no direction of movement, that way, he'll apply pressure without trying to take the ball, so he can't get a free kick.
In certain situations, try to use backward direction+X. It's sort of a jockey move. It world really well against players trying to cross.
And btw, the problem was that the AI PLAYER DOES NOT TACKLE YOU IN THE BOX, THIS IS FIXED.

The details of this "fix" need to be made public - in fact I don't think it has been fixed as the latest post from Jon Murphy on Twitter relating to the issue says "The team is aware of issues reported with AI pressure down the wing and at corner flag. We'll report back with results ASAP". That is very vague and unclear.

Just what "results" is he talking about?

He said, it's been fixed in the final version. But I know, we shouldn't believe in that 100%.

sgmullins yes it's for pes 11. Actually pes 10 didn't have those defending types. In pes 10 you could only apply AI pressure and press x button for tackle and O to ground tackle.

^WHY ARE YOU ACTING LIKE THAT?????
Anyway it was on HIS twitter so I cannot send a link because the posts will update.
I AM NOT SAYING I BELIEVE HIM BTW. I SAID THAT WE SHOULD WAIT AND THEN SEE.

I suspect you are making things up or distorting a vague quote that he made.

I asked you for some evidence to prove your statement that the issue would be fixed in the final game - you have failed to provide any therefore I conclude you are a questionable source of factual information.

The quote that I gave suggests that the issue is underinvestigation but has not been fixed.

Prove me wrong if you can or rant like an angry child the choice is yours.

YOU ARE STUPID. HAPPY NOW.
Why would I make things up in favour of pes when I was a fifa fan during 08, 09 and 10?
I have a reputation here for being fair, why would I destroy it?
You're a waste of time if you won't understand this.
As I said, go ask someone else and he'll tell you that Murphy tweeted this as well.
Twitter posts get updated with new ones, so how can I find the original?
BUT I NEVER SAID I BELIEVED HIM. I always say, I'll wait for my judgement when the games comes out and that's what I will always do.

Hello, no need for arguments, from my understanding you're both kind of right and shaun7 isn't making anything up. I was the poster who started a thread similar to this a link was provided to so I've been following it reasonably closely.

From my understanding, which could be wrong, Jon Murphy said he couldn't perform the "jogbug" in the final game, and then confirmed it. However, I think that was before the tweet you quoted Marty, so maybe afterwards he realised it wasn't fixed completely? Anyway, that's my understanding, could be wrong, but Shaun7 isn't lying, at one stage he did say it was fixed. Cool.
