DirectX 9.0c Problem

Hi i'm new to these forums, i'm glad i've found one for pro evo, basically i bought pro evo 6 for the pc 2 days ago, went to install it and a pop up came up which said,

"Error - DirectX 9.0c not found. Please install DirectX 9.0c or higher prior to running the game."

This is weird, i know i already run DirectX 9 because i play Call of Duty 2 and San Andreas, they also need DirectX 9 to run - i really don't understand why pro evo won't recognise it.

I have a ATI Radeon x800 Graphics card, but i don't see why that should be a problem as the game is suported by it.

If anyone could help me out i would really appreciate it,

Thanks.

Maybe you have DirectX 9.0b installed and not 9.0c? Either way, run the DirectX setup from the PES DVD.

How do i check what DirectX i am running then please?

I have already done the DirectX setup on the the menu, that does nothing either, i believe that only installs DirectX 8.0 or 8.1.

Apart from that i am really confused, can anyone else help?

A previous version of DirectX will never overwrite a later version and it will tell you that is the case.

Go to the Run... option in your Start menu and type dxdiag. That will open a window which will show the version of DirectX you are using.

Yes there is a DirectX setup on the disk but it's not for 9.0c, if you look in the instruction manual it says its 8.0 and/or 8.1.

I've downloaded a 9.0c file it was 59mb, installed the program, saved all the files in My Computer > Program Files > directX, then did dxidiag again and it still said im running 9.0b. Very confusing.

Ignore the manual. Try and run the DirectX setup on the PES6 DVD. If it is a previous version, it will say you've already got a later version. If the manual is wrong, your problem will likely be resolved.

I've already tried doing the DirectX setup on the dvd about 10 times, whenever i do it it just overwrites the same files, its never updates it.

All i need to know what to do is how to change the 9.0b to 9.0c.

Maybe i am saving the files in a wrong place somewhere.

NB: I posted where i saved the files in my last post.

You're doing something drastically wrong.

The DirectX installer will not ask you for a directory, it will find the previous version and update it unless you are trying to overwrite it with a previous version in which case it will do nothing.

I also don't have a Program Files > DirectX directory so I suggest you go into the one you have and look for a file called DXSETUP. If it is there, you haven't run the installer for 9.0c. What you downloaded from the internet was a self-extracting executable which, when run, extracted the installer and its associated files on your hard drive, ready for you to run DXSETUP and patch your version from 9.0b to 9.0c.
