They dribble through your payers, and you get pulled up for a foul because you are not defending as the game intends and expects you to defend (i.e. don't hold the tackle button), and you're not timing it right.

I get 1-3 yellow cards per game on average. I also very rarely put myself in a positition where my keeper is left in a one-on-one situation. I'm not trying to be big headed, or say that you're sh!t, but seriously, concentrate on learning to defend and you'll get there.

Woh 1-3 yellow card a game, man your hard on the slide tackles eh. I hardly use the slide tackle button, so i get maybe 0.2 yellow cards per game on average(profesional dificulty). Plus in regards with defending, after playing it for a while, you start to anticipate exactly what the ai will do when dribbling or passing; soon it will becomes second nature. The bad thing about any ai is that, no matter how much variety you put in the coding, it will get predictable anyway.

On another matter, as someone said, super cancel get used alot in a match. Not that i'm bothered by it, but there is just simply too much super cancel moments, especially when defending.

i couldnt agree more, i honestly was dead against 2012 at 1st (see my earlier posts) but i just kept playin and i can honestly say u will just click with the new game, its a case of practice makes perfect and i can now say i think the game has improved alot as a whole to 2011, which i also took a while getting used to funny enough.....

I'm not holding the tackle or call second defender buttons and i think u missed my point. In the games i've played i've found it easier to just recieve the ball and run down the wings, instead of passing and playing one-twos, which is what i want to do. And i'm not shit, i play on top player and have over 600 rating online. Well i did, because i will never play the game again.

I did say on average tbf. Sometimes I don't get any, sometimes I get 3 or 4. Depends on the game and situation I'm in. If I'm down by 1 goal with 10 minutes to go, I tend to go in harder to try and gain posession. If I'm up by 1 with 10 minutes to go I'm under more pressure to defend. It's just like real life.

Really? One-two's and build up play is what I love most about the game. Remember, the game can defend well too.

It is happening again
What difficulty are you playing on? I've noticed them do this (albeit under pressure) on regular, but I haven't seen it once on Pro or Top Player.

Superstar difficulty. They do it when under no pressure whatsoever.

I tried starting a ML (for the 2nd time) today. I played 3 games and I just couldn't stand it any more. In my opinion, the single player just isn't fun at all. It's worse than it's ever been. I'm yet to try multiplayer, but I'm wondering if it's even worth it... it can't be that much different.

It really pisses me off. It seemed like they made a positive move with PES 2011. But with PES 2012, it seems to be the case of 1 step forward and 8 steps back!

PES 2012 requires intelligence, patience, positioning and timing. That's probably where you're going wrong Micho.

I played it pretty solidly over the weekend on ML, and I'm loving it more and more each time. A very rewarding game once you get to grips with it, and no two games are the same. I've scored some cracking goals, and set up some great goal scoring opportunities, whilst at the same time conceded a few. But this isn't down to the game being sh!t, I conceded due to poor defending on my part.

How people can feel that this game is broken or sh!t is beyond me. Every game has it's flaws, but if you actually can't play the game the way it's meant to be played, then don't play it.

The fact that the AI is more intelligent on the attack, and actually requires you to time your tackles instead of holding down the conservative tackle button, makes the game rewarding. I've got to grips with tackling and I don't get cut through any more. Time you're slide tackles and you won't get pulled up for a foul eveytime.

PES is no longer a pick up and play arcadey footy game, it's an intelligent football simulator, and unless you learn the basics, you're going to get beat. A lot. Basically, unless you're willing to put the effort in and not take a half ar$ed approach, then you will not be able to play this game. Like Micho.

i see your whole post as a joke. i said i hate pes 2012 i did not say i am a loser, in fact i won 50% of my games.

every word you said points out that you either are a newbie or a pes sales representative trying to beautify the ultimate ugliness of this crap game.... the best joke you said above was "PES is no longer a pick up and play arcadey footy game, it's an intelligent football simulator, and unless you learn the basics, you're going to get beat"

you know reading this, i failed to express my feelings, just pointless arguing with people like you

again another unrealistic behavior, do you notice how the players make long crosses or long balls? do you see that the player's foot twist awkwardly to the back and sends the ball in a non realistic direction when you try to cross... also it is impossible to aim for your attacker in the box from the flank... they only have some stupid custom made crosses that always get repeated time n time again like the old fifa versions if you remember... it sucks... i aim forward and cross the cross goes backwards... i aim backwards and cross the ball goes to the side missing all my open attackers... i cross to the far post with gauge, the ball goes to the middle, i cross to the near side of the net the ball goes far post... wtf it sucks... also through passes on the ground, your target is 2 meters away from you, you press through pass the ball goes ahead of him by 10 meters, then both players move forward leaving their position going nowhere, the defense picks the ball up, gets past both players and run to my flank... on my flank none of my defenders try to block the flank area instead they leave the attacker open to drive to the corner flag and cross the ball... this is fucking ridiculous man unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Been playing PES & Fifa for years. Just because you don't agree with my comments doesn't make me wrong and you right, or vice-versa. I love the game, you do not. No arguements to be had, just disagreements. You see my post as a joke because it completely contradicts YOUR thoughts on the game. But again, that doesn't make any of us right or wrong. When I get home this evening I will have a couple of hours enjoyment on a game that I love, you may do the same, but it will no doubt be a different game. Instead of trying to argue and persued people to not buy this game based on your opinions, why not just stop playing the game and play something you enjoy?

This is what irritates me. Don't put all PES 2012 haters in the same category as Micho. I'm a decent PES player but so far, I fucking hate this game.
I think they've ruined it. I feel like I have little control over what my players do. They run towards the ball in an automated fashion, rarely shoot in the direction I tell them to, tap the ball when I hold the pass button, whack the ball when I tap the pass button. To add to that, the scripting is beyond belief.
I just think the game is very bad.... laughably bad in fact.

one fact dude, i know i am right and i wouldn't open or waste so much energy on writing here if i was not right.... another fact is, it is fine if you love the game but the way you wrote your words is very ironic or making it appear innocent... i dont think you read my posts here before writing "arcade and simulation" shit... this game is the same shitty arcadish bullshit that Fifa was 5 years ago
i started playing and watching football since i was 3 years old, i broken my arm, twisted my ankles a zillion times, broken my noise, injured my eye all because of the love of the game now you tell me i am not good at knowing the basics then i say politely F O

You may know the basics of a football game, a football simulator is a different kettle of fish. You're arguement is the game is broken, not that it isn't a true representation of the game. A very large percentage of the people who play games like COD have never been to battle or even held a gun, but whether they enjoy a game based on real life goings on in a battle field is a completely seperate issue. If you think the game is broken, and you don't enjoy it, fine. On that basis you are right and I am wrong. But I don't think it's broken and I do enjoy it, so that makes me right and you wrong. You seem to have a real problem with people expressing this feeling. What baffles me though is you've been spouting this negativity for a while now, yet you still continue to play the game, for what seems only to find faults with it. What is the point in that?

who said i play the game?? i said before i ran out of money in online league cause i kept on quiting now i have 10 players... and i didnt touch the game since then. you imagine things and you are talking like a philosopher... put your feet on the ground the reality is this game is not a simulation and is not realistic... i even enjoy the soccer game in Atari in 1990's more than this shit cause i know the best wins... its not like rolling a dice

Philosopher? Behave. Just because I post my thoughts in an intelligent and calm manner doesn't make me some sort of guru.

I based my opinion of you continuing to play the game on 1) You continue to post here, and 2) Because you keep coming up with new things to slate and berate.

So my next question is, if you don't play the game anymore then why continue to post your negative thoughts here? You have every right to do so, it is an open forum after all, but I don't understand why you would. You've expressed your opinion and dislike, can't you just leave people to come to there own conclusion? I've posted my thoughts, and even offered advice to those that are struggling. Struggling like I was when I first played, and made the effort to source info and advice to help me get to grips with it. The only advise you are offering is "Do not buy Pes". You've said this many different ways, many different times. Isn't it just best to leave it now?

Micho, g221911g, redz123, MysteryMan and a few others...you are absolutely correct!

I am a massive fan of the Pro Evo series but now, I am certain that it is finished unless there is a MASSIVE overhaul (by "overhaul", I mean "going back to the basics of what made PES enjoyable in the first place!")

As someone said before, it is as if Konami have never seen a game of football in their lives.

Pes 12 is without a doubt the most frustrating, tedious and unresponsive football game I've ever played and, when the difficulty is raised to "Top Player" or "Superstar", it becomes almost unplayable.

Shooting at goal is nearly impossible, since every player in the opposing team appears to form a brick wall in front your attacker as soon as you get anywhere near the penalty box. The opposition sprint back into defence at superhuman speed, their left-wingers start tackling like Beckenbauer, thus all you can do is watch in frustration as the ball ping-pongs around, deflecting off your team and theirs until someone clears it or hits a pathertically feeble shot on goal. When have you ever seen a football team defend with 10 men in their own box while the opponent is on the counter attack!?

Add in the ridiculously awful "first touch", where your attacker moves with all the agility of a 90 year old, and most attacks break down by handing possesion over to the other side. All you can really do is try to "thread the needle" with pointless through balls that usually get intercepted or unrealistic crossing which lands bang-on your attackers head..

You have literally no control over your players, which makes dribbling intensely irritating. However, watch as the CPU waltzes by your defenders with (as has been said before) PERFECTLY timed turns. Even Kuwait and North Korea are able to run rings around the best defenders in the world simply by running at them. There is nothing that can be done about it and you can see goals coming a mile off.

Also, the tackling is absolutely appalling. Slide tackles might as well not be included in the game as they don't work. The referee punishes the most tame shoudler tackle with a free kick (which ALWAYS results in a goal).

Ah, and onto the Free-kicks. This has been needing sorting since 08. 90% of free-kicks go in, regardless of which CPU player is taking them. When the free-kick is the result of a dubious, "tame shoulder challenge" the free-kick success-rate is basically 100%. Conceding on the edge of the area might as well be an automatic goal to the opposition.

Also, what is with this IDIOTIC "trick stick"!? I hated it when FIFA introduced it about 5 years ago, it was borderline passable in Pro '11 but the concept is utter shite! What happened to the old PES notion of having control over your player, turning people quickly, the odd stepover and Marseille Roulette? We don't need to be locked into a shitty sequence of pointless moves that usually end with your player running the ball out for a throw-in. GET RID OF IT!!

I remember saying to my mate, after a few months of playing Pro Evo '11, that it was like "playing football in a grid". There are certain sequences of things which can happen when you press certain buttons and, as G221911g said, Konami locks you into a series of moves. This results in your defenders parting like the Red Sea when the opposition plays a through-ball, your attackers running away from passes, goal keepers moving to the side and players generally dancing around the ball whilst noone is able to take control. Player freedom is non-existant. It's horrible!

The sad thing is, that FIFA is just as bad. FIFA has always been shite so, when they make a few tweaks and steps forward, it's more noticeable that it has improved. It is merely a polished turd.

PES, on the other hand, was once the king of all games and now it has regressed so much that it is almost unrecognisable.

I'm off the play any PES game from 2008 backwards to appreciate how far this franchise has fallen in the past few years..

PES is absolute garbage. People on here might say FIFA lacks a soul, but PES lacks a soul, a heart and a brain. FIFA might not be much better, but at least it looks good and attempts to improve each year. KONAMI are like absentee fathers, no idea whats wrong with their creation and not able, or not wanting to, fix those problems. The game feels like mario or sonic or any other platform arcade games. Full of glitches, in which people play to exploit those glitches. (ie running to the byline constantly and crossing) There's no freedom in the gameplay. Football games just haven't transferred well onto next gen consoles. A book on how bad this game is would the only thing in the world more boring and uninteresting as this game. Bottom line is; PES 2012 IS THE WORST FOOTBALL GAME EVER MADE.
