Does it matter who the Captain is?

In Madden for example, they have a stat called "IMPortance" and usually you want to select the player with the highest IMP stat as captain as he will have a more positive influence on team morale when doing so.

Is there any such rule in PES as to who your captain should be? Does captain in PES just mean an arm band or does it mean more? I couldn't find any info about this in the PES guide, so was wondering if you guys had any insight on the matter...

i think it should mean more as your skills should say in the stats- leader skills and each game u captain and u win that stat should go up and it should have an effect on how the team plays say if u select a new captain he may not have enough leadership skills and maybe the team could loose so his stat could go down but in the off season u should be able to work on leadership skills as well as all the other traing u do in the off season

i tend to make the obvious choice leadership wise IE chelsea would be terry or lampard as they have the best leadership skills.

in my ML im in my second season and have pretty much whole new squad and my most experienced player who starts regulary is john o'shea so hes my captain

A captain should be a player you would never, ever drop, and who you're comitted to as a manager for more than the short term.

Just IMHO.

Yeah stats wise, teamwork is the obvious choice, as there isn't a 'leadership' stat

Carragher-Liverpool
Gatusso-A.C Milan
De Rossi-Roma
Ramos-Real Madrid&Spain

for me the most brutal player is materazzi. i hate him and would never put him as my captain.

In the game, it doesn't make a difference. I usually put the the original team's captain in the ML.

Like the team morale should be effected by the captain, and for example at half time maybe it could let the user select some motivational words from a list that will have different impact on the players condition; and the better the captain's stats are the greater the effect of what you choose to say to the team will be. Just an idea.

i think that first KONAMI should make a greater effect of the manager. maybe the captain would increase faster in mentality and teamwork.

They need a leadership stat, or something like that. A captain with a high leadership stat could influence the other players teamwork stat for example.. things like that.

That would be really useful, especially while playing with the default ML team - their stats are so low and they make so many stupid mistakes, that it could be a nice way to improve your game by bringing in someone better who would motivate them on field to make them understand the play better etc.
