I was wondering how everybody thinks about this.
I don't find the Top Player as difficult as I would have liked it to be. Even against Barcelona.
Do you think KONAMI should up it a little bit in the final code?

It is a tricky subject, as a game would never be challenging enough vs. AI, until they are cheating.

This is still the major reason for me to keep buying PES instead of FIFA. Fifa's legendary is really challenging, but they downright cheat. The professional setting is way to easy, which makes it a crap game vs. CPU

It can be harder but still keep the cheating to a normal level. I think it can be harder.:)

I totally agree with FolkertBelt. It is a trick task to program the AI increasing the difficult without cheating (at least not too much).

Another issue is how people understand what is a high level of difficulty. When COM beats you all the time? When COM uses the full potential of the players?

I wouldn't like to see a small team that suddenly the players become 11 Messis. That is not a matter of difficulty, but realism.

I think even in a possible "super high level" small teams should behaviour as small teams because of the limitations of their players. Top level in this case would be a tough team to be beaten and COM trying smart counter attacks creating dangerous threats. But wouldn't be impossible to beat if you are good enough and your team has clearly better players.

Completely agree.
The thing I want is that each team plays realistic not super AI cheating. I want them to play smart and try to take advantage of your mistakes more. Also a bit more pressure wouldn't hurt. But NO superhuman pressure like in fifa. That's highly unrealistic aswell.
I believe pes 5 made the difficulty right. There wasn't super AI cheating, but at the same time the com played smart and you felt the difficulty.

I think they should leave it alone if they cant do it without increasing the cheating. Basically, the way to do it is to make two basic things happen.

1) The CPU AI must respect player stats. If it does that, it wont be able to do messi like things with average players

2) The CPU AI must respect the tactical attributes set in the formations screen. So if a teams tactics are set a certain way in the tactics screen, the CPU should play that way and not always do the same passing tactic. This is very easy, all konami need to do is configure each team to use different realistic tactics based on changing the attributes in the tactics screen which decide how a team plays

For example, configure Inter Milan to have a deep defense, counter attack, medium support range, etc etc etc. Then make sure the CPU follows what is defined in the tactics/formations screen, that way, you might have a game where team play different styles.

I havent played yet, but it needs to be harder. I remember there was in PEs Shop a way to unlock the 6 stars diffulculty. It was so challenging I mean if you played a cuo the quarterfinals and on where very difficult. But since they took off that, In ML i played 2 seasons I get a decent squad and would be easy for me to keep in the first place. THats not the point the point is that it gets harder to stay UP in the standings etc

I think the level of difficulty on PES has always been good in that the game is always playable, however I would be all for a difficulty level which would require me to "park the bus" as they say, as per Rangers at Old Trafford, a level like this where the threat of a real hammering was very possible would be welcomed by me absolutely. I do see the point that this would enable teams like Wigan or Wolves (No offence to any Wigan or Wolves fans) to become super teams which is just not realistic, perhaps one way around this problem is to ascribe each team a level rather than having an overall level i.e. Wigan as a professional difficulty team where as Barca would be Top player+. There are of course problems with this in that there would need to be some way to assign difficulty level i.e. by league position, average player rating, then there is the issue of teams who are fairly formidable at home i.e. Birmingham, this would be worth replicating into the difficulty, and it would need to be changeable throughout a ML campaign for example. Overall though the threat of a real hammering away at the Nou Camp would be a much welcomed addition.

1. + 2.

It would definately be the best way to program the Com AI. Making italians teams defend with numbers and hitting you on the break would be, well... realistic? Isn't it that we all seek?

AI aren't very good, especially after being used to the cheating AI from last year.

If I remember right, last years AI were pretty bad till one of the patches.

Bringing 6 stars difficulty back to unlock this year might help.
