If you change the Chip Shot 2 to Type 2 in the Button Configuration menu, you can also lob by rapidly tapping the shoot button.

I used to play with "type 2" controls, but more often than not found I was doing the alternate move instead of the one I wanted to do (lobbing a shot is a prime example). Moved back to Type 1 and everythings a lot easier to pull off. Made a nice lob yesterday to win the World Cup against Brazil on 6* :D very proud of that.
