Hey, after falling in love with the demo and seeing the great mods here i was extremely excited to get WE9 (PES), but i soon found out it was a DVD-ROM, here is the problem. (sorry i dont know of any other forums to ask this in), for some reason my WinDVD that came with my computer no longer reads DVDs, I can put a regular CD-ROM in the DVD drive and it runs fine, but it just won't read a DVD, which obviously is required if im going to install WE9.

I searched my control panel to find that WinDVD is installed (and it does run when i click on it) but i also found on the Control Panel "Intervideo Installer" and it says its not taking up any memory nor could I find it through a search of my computer.

So what is wrong here? is WinDVD installed or not, and why can't it read a DVD, it simply acts as if nothing is in the drive. If anybody can figure out a solution, please help, this is driving me crazy. Thanks.

BTW, the mods here look GREAT!!

If you know what make of drive you have you try updating the firmware of your drive from the manufacturers website, that can fix read issues.

Btw, welcome to the site :D

Thanks for the reply. I thought of updating the drivers to see if that would fix, so i went to intervideo.com (I have WinDVD Intervideo 2000, it came bundled with my comp a long time ago) but i cant find anywhere to download any drivers or update my WinDVD version. o'well, thanks for the thought.

P.S. I guess i should mention that i've reformatted my computer before. Does this have something to do with DVD codecs..?(a friend mentioned it) and i have no idea what they are,do, or how to get them.

Intervideo WinDVD is similar to DivX which is basically your own little dvd player on your computer instead of using Windows Media Player and other formats... Its got nothing to do with why PES isnt loading.... insert your disc into ya dvd-rom drive and click my computer, then when in there find your DVD rom location (F:\ - E:\ whatever) and right click and then click explore... a new window should open and then just double click on Setup or Autorun :)

Hope this helps :)

Hey I'm guessing it's my DVD drive is messed up then. I did the right-click explore thing and it says...

"Windows cannot read from the disk. The disk might be corrupted, or it could be using a format that is not compatible with windows."

So i'm just guessing that means my drive is just screwed up then?

possibly, have you got all the correct drivers installed for your dvd-rom? If you have then take it back to the supplier or conact the makers of the drive and ask for directions from them :)

EDIT: or it could be you games disc, is it scratched excesivley or something? if it is then there's your problem, happens to me with most of my disc's, once it has a big enough scratch in it then say goodbye lol

lol no, game is brand new, no scratches, it's been happening to me with all DVD's. Just makes me mad cuz it used to work, but ever since i reformatted my computer after my hard drive crashed, it hasn't worked. I never really cared cuz i watch DVD's on TV anyway instead but now that this game is a DVD.......i care a little lol. Well, thanks for the help anyways

uh ya, like i said i used to do it before my HD crashed and I reformatted, the drive is labeled as Compact Disc and a DVD-ROM drive. I might just try cleaning it and if that doesn't work, prolly just get a new DVD Drive.

The laser on your drive is probably just knackered. You can pick up a new DVD drive for less than a tenner I'm sure.
