Amateur - Do you play many games at all? Because, to call PES 2011 one of the worst games you have ever played is a bit extreme.

Clearly.... in your opinion.... since I utterly and completely do not think I'm being extreme at all. If anything, I have been far too generous with the game, giving it loads of time to see if I was missing something, only to find out that the game actually is worst than my initial impression of it.

I have played video games for many years, I have played a lot of different type of video games, and PES11 is amongst the top three worst video games I have ever played.

Video games are supposed to require ability and have an addictive hook, as well as appropriate substance, I consider myself a skillful gamer and I do not consider PES11 a video game for skillful gamers, as simple as that.

I can play PES11 to perfection but I never get any enjoyment from it, which makes me think that my ability is not the problem, because I have no problem scoring goals nor playing the game, I simply fail to see why PES11 is supposed to be entertaining.

There's no real substance to the game and no real consistency to the game, just an utterly simplistic and predictable video game in terms of substance and yet an overly difficult and unreliable video game in terms of execution.

I just don't like the difficult execution because in my opinion the game offers little in return, I fail to see why the video game is so difficult in terms of execution when the video game should not be difficult in terms of execution: the whole idea of difficult execution in order to do something boring, automatic, unresponsive, imprecise, obvious, and simple, is just a ridiculous idea.

It's just a ridiculous idea or approach for an outdated video game that was popular in the PS2 days due to the original concept of player individuality, I no longer find PES original nor entertaining.

You know, video games like PES5 and PES6 on the PS2 feel outdated and yet finished, on the other hand, PES11 on the PS3 feels outdated and unfinished....

Why should an unfinished video game with ridiculous balancing acts that utterly neglect the ability of the user, be any fun?

In my opinion, the difficult execution that is necessary in order to do simple, obvious, unresponsive, imprecise, boring, and automatic actions + the fact that the video game is scripted and therefore blatantly neglects the ability of the user, makes PES11 one of the worst video games I have ever played.

My opinion.

I think pes 2008 was the worst, each year they get better but still bad. I cant understand how pes 5 you could play all year round and im sure people still play it now and 5 6 years later with better technology these games cant last long, i play pes becuase its pes but im bored of it, it has some kind of addiction on it.

Each year we seem to get false promises, i really want pes to move forward and get better but its struggling right now, i would be happy with a pes 5 game but with better graphics becuase that way i know it will be soild and enjoyable.

PES08 was definitely worst than PES11, it's just that I prefer to pretend that PES08 never happened, it must have been very embarrassing for Konami to release such an unfinished video game.

PES5 on the PS2 was a finished video game that made a lot more sense than PES11 on the PS3. As I have mentioned before, the mistake for me was when Konami and EA Sports started adding more directions of passing, more directions of movement, as well as motion capture animations, without actually changing how the core elements of the video game function.

PES 2008 was a disgusting game, you could do Messi dribbles with gary neville, it was everything a football sim should not be, the only positive about 2008 was the fact it made konami realise arcade football games are not the way to go.

Honestly, I played the game last week, after about two months of not touching it, and to my surprise, PES11 is worst than I remembered....

<Repetitive Ranting Yet Again>

Did you think that Konami would improve game mechanics on a game that has already gone through half of it's designed life-time? If you didn't like it 2 months ago, you won't like it today. I don't believe the problems you've been pointing out repetitively can be fixed by a mere patch, so why even bother trying it out again just so you can hate it again and do what you usually do (i.e. posting rants)?

Why don't you just move on, play another game, and wait for PES 2012 to come out so you can have something new to rant about (if the game didn't improve for you) instead of flogging that dead, rotted horse of yours.

Eh, technology isn't there yet.

No point fretting about what you can't change. Infact, I remember guff like Adidas Power Soccer which had a "Predator Kick" that was literally unstoppable - It remains the only game disc I have snapped to this day.

Enjoy it for what it is and don't take it too seriously.

At least I'm not the troll telling people what they should or should not do. And at least I am not the moron who still has not learned that everyone repeats the same bullshit over and over again; what you have said to me, you could say to anyone in this forum.

And obviously, core problems cannot be fixed with a patch, even a moron like yourself can see why. And obviously, when I play PES11 after two months of not touching it, I am not expecting a brand new game, but I am expecting something that can entertain me if only for a very limited time span.

Like with PES5 and PES6, I got bored of them and subsequently stopped playing them, and after about two months or so after not playing, I played again and it seemed to work because it revitalized the enthusiasm to some extent. With PES11 the opposite happened, I stopped playing for about two months, then played again, and now I find the game even worst than before.

I was just commenting about that on a thread trhat was created for such negative comments. Perhaps you should move on from the troll mentality and realize that I don't give a fuck about what you think I should or should not do, I didn't asked you anything, I was simply talking about a video game.

If you cannot comment about the video game without personally insulting me with your stupid bullshit, then perhaps it is you who needs to move on from such childish mentality.

I think technology is there and has been there for quite some time, it's just that the video game industry is now the new scam, the people who work in the industry found out that by targeting children they can get away with selling the same exact video game for $60 on a yearly basis, which after five years amounts to $300 for more or less the same exact video game you bought five years ago.

When I talk about PES or any other video game I talk about it seriously because I think that such a multi-million dollar business should be taken seriously; however, video games are not an important part of my life and therefore cannot affect nor pose any threat to my state of mind, I'm not gonna be bummed out just because a video game has failed to improve after a decade of development, I have many other sources of entertainment, PES is easily replaceable.

However, I do like playing video games when I have the time, and when I talk about PES or any other video game I like to write serious, respectful, objective, and informative, arguments.

Saying to enjoy it for what it is and don't take it too seriously, is offensive in my opinion, because it is an offensive and condescending argument in my opinion, mainly because you are under the impression that I take video games very seriously, which is offensive in my opinion because to me it reads like a stereotype kind of thing, becasue you are suggesting that a person cannot write serious arguments about a video game without actually taking the video game seriously.... which is precisely my case with PES11, I think PES11 is a joke, but when I bother writing about it, I try my best to write a serious and informative argument.

To say that I should enjoy it for what it is and don't take it too seriously, is in my opinion a lazy, stereotypical, offensive argument from your part.

I completely disagree with you, I think technology is there, is just that the people who run the technology do not appear to be interested in making serious video games for adult gamers, because the people whon run the business found out that developing video games for children is far more profitable than developing video games for adults.

I think or would like to believe that you meant no disrespect with your comment, but I honestly think it is an offensive argument due to how lazy and stereotypical it is in my opinion. That's my two cents anyways.

I must be the only one that's really enjoying it then.

I'm addicted like a fucking bitch, it still has some design choices and flaws that make me want to cry with frustration sometimes, but it truly is one hell of a football sim.

Went from one game where the cursor switching cost me a goal to another game where I came back from 1-0 down to win 2-1 with the cheekiest of chips ... thats PES for you.

I tend to look at it a different way. Football is an up & down affair and PES has always delivered those moments of frustration to go with the moments of joy when the sweet shot pulls off or you make that last gasp tackle and not get booked.

Football is actually a pretty boring game, interspersed with moments of good or bad that are remembered. I'm thankful that these games distill that into 10-minutes of entertainment, because you'd be lucky to compile a complete 10 minutes of entertainment from most matches.

Anyway, that was exactly my thought as the original poster.
There is nothing in this game that I consider as "engineered for freedom."

In my opinion PES 2011 is the worst game in its series. Even PES 2008 that I considered that bad is better than this game.

There is no 360 degree movement in this game. I played the demo on PC using an Xbox 360 controller and I notice absolutely no 360 degrees whatsoever.
FIFA 11 is the way to go in my honest opinion. If Konami ever want to return their fanbase back then they'll have to really bring in something revolutionary. Otherwise most people will stick to FIFA.

I doubt I will buy PES 2012 as I don't think it will be any close to the standard that FIFA 12 delivers!

Football is not a boring game! It's this game that creates that bad impression of football as a boring game!!!
I had an impression about basketball that it was a boring sport. But when I first played NBA 2K10 my opinions about basketball completely changed.

PES 2011 is terrible really. Even the PES fanboyism has died!

You changed your impressions about basketball based on a videogame? Basketball in real life is pretty much end-to-end, even in the English game. Real life football is a lot of niggly fouls, midfield battles, cagey moments where no-one is shooting and play acting. If there are three goals, that's about 6-8 minutes of action and jubilation out of 90.

I'm a die hard pesfan and finally feel we have top class football sim with pes 2011, I have played fifa 08(great game) 09,10 and 11 and fifa is nowhere near pes in terms of many basic football fundamentals. PES has been shit next gen until pes 2011 came along, I think EA have hit a brick wall with gameplay and have ran out of ideas.

I won't be touching fifa 12, EA lost my custom with the average fifa 10 and 11 that are aimed at the casual online market.

My favorite part of the fifa games is all manual play, even that has been dumbed down since fifa 2008.

I have to say its so glad to be back on pes, the depth of the gameplay is astounding, although less polished I think its a better sim than pes 5.

EA have lost many customers this year, fifa 11 is the most overrated football game ever made, It looks good on the surface, I bought the game at midnight and for 10 minutes thought it was better than pes 5 but not long after I realised what a cock I had been.

And dont anyone call me a fucking fanboy, I have been critical of konami the past few years I just think EA have ran out of ideas and the true football fans know which game is best, sorry if that comes across arrogant and elitist but its my honest opinion. As an offline game fifa is a fucking embarrassment and minimal gameplay tweaks with pretentious names will not save fifa 12, impact engine laugh my fucking arse off.

I was one of the customers badly let down by fifa 11, EA have not built on the promise shown with fifa 2008 which was a true simulation.
