Terry is crap.

Centre backs should be Campbell and Rio.

Too right. I wouldn't go as far to say Terry is crap, but he's certainly not as good on the international stage as Sol and Rio, they'd be my first choice centre back partnership for England without question. Terry's the best at club level, but Campbell and Ferdinand are the best centre backs for England. Guaranteed that Sven will fuck it up at the World Cup and drop one of them.

i think this would be a great formation for england to try out...gets most of ur best guys on the field w/out too many playing out of position.

Beckham isnt that slow!! he can ping balls all over the place from this position, also getting down the line to cross balls where lampard gerrard rooney and owen can pile into the area!!

I agree, if you slow down as you approach the defender, then R2 to burst forward, you should create enough space to whip the ball into the box.

Haha, what a joke. I thought the ridiculous ''Cole can't defend'' claims had stopped after the whole of England saw what a fantastic defender he is during World Cup 2002 and, in particular, Euro 2004. How many wingers have got the better of him over 90 minutes in the past 2 or 3 seasons? His defending is a lot better than his attacking, not to say his attacking isn't good aswell. It was obvious how much we missed him against Austria and Poland.

No, it was Ferdinand's fault for playing him onside. You must know a lot of misinformed football fans if most of them believe he's awful. How can you not be impressed by his outstanding performances for England during the World Cup 2002 and Euro 2004? It proved he is anything but awful, not to mention his Arsenal performances, but I wouldn't expect you to appreciate them. Most Man Utd and Chelsea fans I know even admit Ashley Cole is fantastic and believe me, they'd say if they thought an Arsenal player was awful, so no, it's not me being biased. Even when he makes defensive errors on the odd occasion he usually recovers with his pace and well timed aggressive tackles. To suggest Bridge over Cole is retarded, he isn't in the same league, Paul Konchesky is better than Bridge.

Obviously he wouldn't run through the centre past Ferdinand as he would want a clear run on goal to take advantage of Ferdinand playing him onside. Cole chased back but he was too near on goal to get back and tackle him, although he almost managed it. Cole pushed up to play him offside, Ferdinand didn't.

oh and by the way the only people who i do know that think cole is decent are arsenal fans!

Couldn't care less, most of the country rate Cole as the best left back in the Premiership, if not Europe, so what your friends or people you know think really doesn't matter as it won't stop Ashley Cole being an outstanding left back.

As you can see, in both formations I've put Gerrard at right back. He played great there in the Champions League final and made his debut there too. This way there is no problem with Lampard and Gerrard not playing well together and we can play a holding midfielder.
