I played PES Utd in the ML, using the new G's edited option file...it meant that Juninho.P and a few others were in their line up, alongside Romario most of the other retired stars I'd put in PES and WE Utd.
Yes, it was a bit strange, but I was trying to find some good use for those retired players. Any alternatives?

That's a good point about the subs but I haven't had any probs yet bot the Jan transfer window will be the tester though I guess.
Reducing the teams is a good thought tho.

I only put all the players in as I like to play 3-4-3 but a few of my mates play different formations so I didn't want them to feel they were being cheated by not having enough quailty players to choose from, they'll grumble about anything !!!!

I didn't borrow players from the established Classic team (though I edited in a few new defenders for England e.g. Pearse and Adams over Fenwick and Sansom).
I used Team Selection to insert the Retired Players into PES and WE Utd, then edited over a few of their fictional defenders to fill in the gaps left by the surplus of goalkeepers and OMF/CF's available in the PES shop....

The point about the imbalance in Retired players available is important, I'd love to dump half the GK and CF's just to get classic DF and MF players. I had to add a few positions and manipulate abilities to allow some MF players to play at the back - e.g. Di Livio and Boban. The choices of retired players I edited in was very spur of the moment - if I could have spelt Goichacheia I would have put him in!
These were done on my original option file, but once I'd downloaded Georghino's option file the old PES teams appeared as normal. Where it changed those teams is in the Master League I started around the same time - these retired stars are now in the ML whichever option file I use - but I can put up with that.
Edited to add: Andoni Goikoetxea, that's how it's spelt - the “Butcher of Bilbao”.

Some interesting choices - Adams & McGrath class but the best has to be the inclusion of Fashanu !!!
I was thinking of creating Alan Hansen - he was pure class and perhaps Souness hard as nails & no nonsense !!!
maybe for a giggle I will create Peter Beardsley - or will that just break my PS2 ???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The most fun is editing their appearance.
Getting Souness's perm just right is important. You have to unlock additional hairstyles to get Keegan a giant one.
I'd say Beardsley could break the glass on your tv.
