Match report and highlights of Denmark V Italy on the fixtures and results page. As a neutral watching the game..I have to say, that Vieri took a dive!!! watch the replay closely guys and tell me what you think..and the point of view from The Italian coach...any comment? surely it was a dive? there was no contact (and dont say you didnt see the incident clearly, and worm your way out, hehe) anyways, even if you didnt see it as it happened..you can study the match highlights, but be known, that Uefa shall not tolerate cheating in this tournament.....good win though.

its not a divx one, so it should work with your media player...if not then get the 5.1.1 codec from divX.com, but you shouldnt need it.

Vieri's no Cheat
Italy coach worldrecord50leagues has stood up for criticised forward Christian Vieri. Vieri, has been slated by many other participating managers for an alleged dive early in the game against Denmark.
He is verging on lodging a complaint about France coach Zygalski's comments. A statement from 50leagues earlier read,
"He has no business in this. He is just trying to stir up an argument, and I won't take the bait. I may even lodge a complaint about his, we will see."

He spoke with much happier words about the result saying, that his team were clearly the best of the two, and fully merited a win. He praised all his players especially Francesco Totti.

today's real match was weird, i mean did you see those danes going through italian defenders? that rommedahl broke the sound barrier about 2 times, but the real competition was between sorenson(who was clearily a world class keeper not like the game) and buffon who proved himself in many occasions, i think i do deserve the loss though my midfield was a bit unstable, my match with Sweden is going to be hard, and will determine wether if we will continue or not

sweden 3-3 bulgaria
postmatch reaction from press conference...

"oh dear... if i could do substitutions, i would have won that match!!! god d*mn wilhelmson!!!

"but well, that's a good start... in the real match we are losing 4-0... so 3-3 is a good one for me here...

"and i have said b4 that i am going for 3 draws... so this is the 1st one... and praise for jankovic too... a hat-trick is hard enough and he did it in the european championships... that's a great day for him...

"we have worked hard to be in this tournament... although the odds are against us, and sweden were the favourites to win this match. but we won't put 11 players behind the ball. we will go out and try to score and today we had scored 3!!! now i am looking forward to playing against denmark... i think we can even nick a win next time if we play like this... good job!"

Euro2004- Group C -Sweden V Bulgaria, Jose Alvalade - Lisbon

Sweden 3: Ljunberg 58, *Lucic 88 (correction), Wilhelmson 92
Bulgaria 3: Jankovic 23, 60, 89

Euro2004- Group C -Sweden V Bulgaria, Jose Alvalade - Lisbon

Match report

There is only one word to describe this match and that is pulsating. The game of the tournament so far, not only gave us a 6 goal thriller, but produced 2 contenders for goal of the tournament. The Bulgarians began brightly and interchanged passes well, and for the first 20 minutes it was all Bulgaria, and they were the first to get on the score sheet. A decent cross came in from the right wing, which the swedish dfence made a mess of clearing. The ball broke lose and Jankovic was lurking as he smashed the ball into the net, putting Bulgaria in front. The Swedes pressed hard and Larsson was unlucky not to score from close range. A few minutes later Larsson put Ibrahimavic through on goal, but his 20 yard effort flew just over. It remained 1-0 at the end of the half, with Sweden still hanging in there.

As the second half got underway, it was the Swedes who came out fighting, and 2 goals in 2 minutes saw Sweden grab an equiliser only for it to be cancelled out again. It was Freddy Ljunberg who on 58 minutes struck a low shot into the bottm right corner of the net, but on the 60th minute, it was Jankovic who struck with a delightful dribble twisiting and turning defenders and then applying a cool finish past the Swedish keeper. Bulgaria were looking for a win, until the late late show began. A header by defender Lucic, leveled for the Swedes again on the 88th minute, which gave them hope of getting a hard fought draw from the game, which they deserved, but they were stunned a minute later after scoring, It was that man Jankovic who hadn't quite finished. The striker pounced on the half volley scoring from an acrobatic scissors kick which flew into the net...sending the Bulagarian supporters wild, and coach JTHK running down the touchline in amazement and relief, as they scored surely what was the winner on the last minute of normal time. But as cruel as this game can be, The Swedes had one last attack down the right, Larsson crossed, Edman headed back laying it on for Wilhelmson, who scored almost a carbon copy Jankovi's third goal, just 3 mins earlier. Another acrobatic scissors kick which looked spectacular - surely a candidate for goal of the tournament. So that was to be the last kick of the game, honours even and i suppose on the balance of play a fair result. The Bulgarians maybe just deserved the win, but the Swedes never gave up and managed to get a draw from the match. A great game from start to finish, full of incident and exciement, this is European football at it's best, and with the group situation now hotting up, with italy winning 4-1 against Denmark, the second place spot is stil very much up for grabs. So a thrilling group C encounter ending 3-3, and the goals were nothing short of quality.

Match stats:

Stirring things up

Il corrierre Della Sera said:
Italy coach laughed loudly at his press conference when asked about his other two opponents.
He said,
"Watching that match was a lot of fun, I saw just how bad my opponents are. And I wouldn't exactly say the attacking play was superb, rather that the defensive play was woeful from both teams."

The Italy coach is certainly on a high after their superb victory against the Danes, a 4-1 crushing.
When asked what his tactics would be to thwart a laughable defence , he said,
"Tactics are great thing, do you know why? Because, unlike David Beckham's underwear, the press can't get to them."

danish coach comment for Italian coach:

" Maybe Christian Vieri can join the miming team for Italy and act his way through the international tournament for cheaters ... that is exactly why i am having an appeal for the "undeserved booking" which was clearly a bad decision from a bad referee, that could have lowered our momentum and resulted our loss, as for now i would promise everyone that the next matches will be the best and maybe just maybe if Italy made it to the final we would prove ourselves ... so i would like elfinke to take a look at the footage and make his call as he's a neutral member ... our keeper needs a lot of training if it wasn't for him we could have been better ... until next time, looking forward to meet bulgaria ... "
