isn't it? the first hands-on reviews are released and they are always saying how the game has improved from the previous year and how the fans will be happy about it. and then, when the game is actually released, most of us are majorly dissapointed.

every year is the same ritual. we cannot trust these reviews nor create a hype about it.

i believe that the first hands-on reviews need to be much more critical. they seem to be trying to please konami for letting them play the game before everyone else. konami is not doing anyone a favor.

I agree but to a point because last year the previews were mixed reactions from not so much improvement to improved.
So it was more like a 50-50%.
But this year, it is looking like it made a difference. Well from that video anyway.
That said, I do agree that some previews are always saying that it has made major improvements and in reality, it didn't.
But we cannot judge right now and never judge by a preview or a review.
I suggest that we don't take any notice of these previews and reviews.

Well id be more worried if every year they came out and said "the game is the same as last year" otherwise wed have nothing to look forward too, im generally pessimistic about these reviews and you have to take them with a pinch of salt. People who are disappointed are those who generally get all hyped at this time of the year, i can look back and say that 09 was bad but at the time it was good enough, i never criticise the game wen it comes out, you might realise that 08 0r 09 was bad after playing it for two or three months, i personally hate the people who come on here a day after the games released saying "the game is shit, i cant score and why dont konami have the 8th tier of english football...blah blah blah" you have to give it time to get used the game, and thats the problem with playtest's you dont have enough time to settle into a game, so you cant be critical during them.

Having seen the video myself it looks the same as last year in terms of gameplay, comapring how that looked when i first saw it and this years version i cannot possibly see a positive difference.

I am almost tempted to phone Seasbass and tell him to let me fly over and oversee the development of the next pro (if there is one!). They seem to have forgotten the principle of what made this the greatest footy game ever, and I would have no problem telling them, over and over until they get it in their heads!

Rant Over.

I must say the reviews are better this year but If we look at them they all tell us that the passing has way more freedom which is good to hear.. especially from each review I have read. But they have to criticise even the good points for us to see the game isnt all what its cracked up to be.

If they had said "the passing system is a lot better than last year, but still needs some refinement" I would be happy to see that they are progessing but its still not biased and believable in the gamers' view.

Goodbye :)

I am sorry to say this, but what's your problem? I mean, you come here and in more than 1 threads just to say
"I've seen the video, and the movement is the same, it's the same thing as last year......no difference"
If you're not seeing a difference. FINE, You're not.
But it's clear that the animations are better (well much better than pes 10, but good in terms of animations)
It's clear that the passing is much better and you have freedom unlike in pes 10
It's clear that you can make long balls how you want now unlike in pes 10
It's also clear that the players move much more into open spaces.
And it's clear as daylight that it's much smoother.
I'm not all that positive though because BEFORE I JUDGE, I need to see more.
Some negatives include
Defending. Still not sure about it even though it was on easy difficulty
Goalkeeping
I believe some more negatives will follow those, but again, I will wait to see more before I judge.
And I am also not 100% convinced about pes 11 because after pes 08, 09 and 10, it's what you expect but that doesn't mean I won't see the positives it has to offer. And so far, it looks like it improved much more than it did from 08 till 09 and from 09 till 10.

well hopefully the positives outweigh the negatives, im just glad this time the players are running the way they are supposed to, and less like robots.

i have not read many hands on previews ecxept for DD's for pes2011 but i must say that sometimes the columnists may tend to be a little soft, specially if they are a fan of the series. pes2010 is not bad, but it gets uncomfortable to see the players not run smoothly. this year i will be getting both, fifa and pes.

I agree. That's why i'm not as hyped this year than I was last year and the year before that and the year before that :ninja:

In fact i'm not hyped for any game this year.
I was so looking forward to the likes of PES2010, FIFA10, Modern Warfare 2... Then they didn't really turn out like I thought they would.

So yeah, i'm not hyped for any games this year. No PES, no FIFA, no Black Ops.

I wasn't hyped for Uncharted 2 and that is probably the best game I have ever played. So i'm not getting hyped for anything this year ;)

Konami gives me 1 million dollars each month for my views on the game.

Simple fact is that the new game DOES look quite different in motion than 2010, anyone with eyes can see that. The cries of "robotic movement" in this game need to have a rest. Any avid football gamer who's played PES and FIFA for at least the past 10 years can say that the new PES2011 already looks like a different animal than past PES and FIFA games.

While I agree that there are some not-so-great elements in the 2011 video that was released (e.g. the Danny goal and the penalty system), the overall feel that I get from the trailer is what excites me. Even the screens that have been released look to have more life in them than anything that past PES games have, and surely more so than anything put out by EA.

Lastly, I know WENB gets a lot of stick for being over-the-top positive about the game, but they have spent many many hours on the game and are consistently positive about the overall feeling of the game. Most who have had sufficient time with it say that they are putting down PES5/6 for good, which has to be worth something. BTW, the WENB guys are pretty frank about the things that need sorting too, so the game is not perfect, but which game is?

i think u should read his posts better because he says a lot of good things about FIFA also, which i don't understand but you can not accuse him of being a PES fanboy.

Messi is superhuman, so get over it and learn how to defend him and try to reduce the impact he can have on matches. but its really pointless to keep complaining about things that are just facts.
the guy is in his prime and can dribble past defenders almost at will and what he has extra is his finishing.
i know we don't get that deadly combination to often but once in a while we get a messi and a henry in their prime and they are difficult to defend against but what do you want KONAMI to do, ignore the facts.
then u most be playing the wrong game my friend.
did u see BARCA's exhibition match against the korea all stars, messi played for about 15 min. and he changed the whole game with 2 goals, yes 15 minutes so you tell me is that superhuman or what.

but u have one positive thing to look forward to if his performance goes down it will also be reflected in his stats u can count on KONAMI so don't worry.

I just hoped for the same thing you did in this post so that makes you paid by seabass aswell?
That's stupid.
Criticism? I just criticised pes 11 in that post (WELL FROM WHAT I CAN SEE). But you ignored that part for some reason. So does that make on on EA payroll?
Accusing someone of fanboyism who mentioned BOTH NEGATIVES AND POSITIVES is just stupid.
Also, in that video, DID YOU SEE THAT WHEN MESSI DRIBBLED LIKE A SUPERHUMAN, THE SPEED WAS +2? Technically, +2 is like pes 09 and 10.
But I won't defend pes.
I am just in the middle who judges the negatives and positives and actually tries to analyze it before jumping into conclusions.

Although, we don't agree 100% everytime, I respect you because you respect other's views.:)

that's the way it should be,because at the end of the day we are all just gamers wanting the very best games we can afford.
we are not at war.
though some do give you that feeling:D

I must be honest. There is something about the new gameplay that makes me a bit excited about PES 2011. I cannot point that out exactly. It is not the reviews...

But I am not waiting for the perfect game! What I expect is just a better game than PES 2010 and I hope it gives me a lot of fun. That's it.

Anyway, I will wait for the demo to draw my conclusions.

Korean all stars WHAT wow such a super team on the world stage, come on

and KONAMI lowering stats hmm so can you explain adriano, or the whole england team in recent pro evo games, or why fabregas, malouda are constantly underrated

look I want this game to suceed, as much as the next guy but i can only look at past attempts and cry :(

be reasonable ok, the players u mentioned don't perform like you would expect them to do each match we should really take that into consideration.
that's why increasing players stats shouldn't be done by everyone.
they aren't even automatic starters in their national teams.
the impact that messi brings along is felt immediately, that was also the case with adriano when he was a beast of a player but look at his stats now.
not the worsts CF but a shadow of what he was in his prime.
to be a star in PES your teams performance should really get a boost when your in the match(so winning trophies is a must)
take kuyt for example:those of us who know football know why he is rated that high because when he's in the match its truly felt.
take a good look at some players stats also some are very good but they have low stamina which also means that their impact can be felt but short.
totti,delpiero etc.
still atleast we are arguing about something which is present in PES and if you don't agree they give you the opportunity to edit them so why make such a big issue about it.
think of what FIFA did a while back : you could pay to have your teams in different leagues stats adjusted every week to be as realistic as possible LOL.
NOW THEY ARE HONESTLY TELLING U THAT THE DIFFERENCE IN STATS WILL BE FELT THIS YEAR.
WHAT THE HELL WERE U PAYING FOR THEN. anyone ever gave that a thought.

I agree with that and also fifa has got better and better where as pes seems to be the same the playrs are too slow on pes and the movement is bad aswell but pes is still a very good game

In pes, players are constantly underated. Arsenal are terrible in pes player for player and liverpool, don't get me started.

I think the reason they underate so many players (with the exception of utd) is to make the good players stand out but aswell to allow room to develop players. If everyone had massive stats there'd be no room for improvement so it can be a good thing.

Messi though, he's nothing special. In the past 3 pes' the only player that's made me soil myself is Ronaldo but if you pack the defense you can tell him to f##k off
