the only reason you cant do this in pes2011 is because the passing or crossing in those wide areas is shocking. they drill it every time and always to the furthest man. you seemingly have no input into where a crossed ball goe3s.

No it's not. In pes 11, if you know how to defend, you can easily defend those runners from the wing.
I ha da friend of mine and he always sprinted like hell with meesi and ronaldo and then pas the ball and score in pe 10. When he tried it in pes 11 demo, he failed. Not only because of passing, but because of the gact that the defence is much better and you can wait on him and then tackle. Something that you couldn't do in pes 10 because fast players would turn around your defenders like they were nothing.

The only thing they SHOULD DO FOR PASSING, is make the power bar rise up SLOWER. This would solve alot of problems. Same with shots. The power bar as it is, is fast to rise up, therefore less control. So the power bar is the problem.

This one actually seems better than anything from pes6- 2010 to me, but it's still early, and i didn't realise how bad the d was in Pes6 compared to 5 right away either.
True and yes it is still early. And like you said, I also didn't realise that the pes 6 defence wasn't good until I played it well enough. So yeah, time must pass in order to give a full review on defence.

I've been playing vs friends the last few days, and we have been seeing ai defenders standing FLAT-FOOTED on thru balls alot, taking horrible angles on them. They're running parallel with the attacker, instead of just cutting off the angle when they're in position to do so, and making the easy interception.

This is a big defencive ai flaw that can ruin 2 player games also, not just games vs the cpu, like the other one. When you watch the replays closely, it tells it all. The ai defenders never try for the sliding tackle to intercept the ball rolling by them or even strech out their leg far, if they need to. They just stand there like zombies, or react horribly when the thru pass is made, taking a step in the complete direction when the ball is being played, or just marking their men like complete shit, leaving the attacker wide open for the easy pass.

Keeping possesion felt too easy also, with alot of space to work with, it seemed like. ( We both had the pressing set to 15 too ) This is reminding me of pes6 again, it felt and looked pretty good at first, but when you really start playing it and getting better, all the the defencive flaws start to show, and then you start getting a bunch of 4-3 games all the time. And nobody wants that. Not ppl who enjoy playing a realistic game anyways.

Now remember, this is comming from someone who has only been playing WE9 on 25 min games ( with realistic scorelines ) for years now, so i'm sure ppl who have been playing the more recent versions are probably alot more used to the weaker defences. __________________

its a different ball game when playing with a friend. At the end of the day against the AI my point stands.

As for Dabeeds, i thought double tapping did drilled crosses? and triple tapping drilled them on the floor?

^Did you read my post? I said that it has issues true, however some are making it look worse than it is.
As for passing to the nearest player. Press L2+X for manual pass and the power bar rises slower. That way you can pass the ball to the nearest teammate easier.
As for cross. Try manual too. With L2+O. The normal crossing sucks. It could've been better.
But I totally agree that the power bar rises way too fast. It should be slowed down. That way we'll have more control. Even for shooting.
As for the "jog" bug. I hope it's truly fixed. But I believe it when I play it. :)
And the defence is not nearly as bad. More like pes 6 defending.
I wanted a pes 5 defending. That game is still a legend. The thing I truly missed from 5 was that the power bar for shooting rises up slower, therefore more control. I also missed it's defending. Actually it's positioning.

I used to have a big problem with defending/tackling in Pes2011 demo. I would commit loads of fouls trying to get the ball back and be hit on the break so often before being punished by a through ball.:erm:

My build up and overall offensive play was good, but if I lost the ball with players committed to attack I was conceding goals all too often. The fouls would mount up with me shouting ":realmad:!!I BARELY TOUCHED HIM:realmad:!!"

Then I found this little guide.

http://www.pes-patch.com/2010/08/pes-2011-dribbling-defending.html

It took time to get used to, it's all about making sure your not pulling your defence out of position. If your like me losing the ball at the edge of the opponent's area, don't just rush your nearest player into then to try and win the ball back pressing the X button so hard your thumb hurts unless you have a good chance of winning the ball, i.e he doesn't have the ball under control fully yet.

It seems to be all about tracking players and getting into good positions, limiting there options, players like Messi are great with the ball at there feet and if you rush them they will either take it round you or hit the floor like a sack of spuds.Get in a good position, let them make the first move then tackle when they try and take it round you.

The 2nd player press button really comes into it's own here as you can track a player with the ball while your main controlled player can cut out the most dangerous pass again limiting their options.

After a few games of using this method, I started to get it. It did take me a while though, I conceded more at the start but I'm really getting it now.

My defending has now got to a level where I doing to them what was frustrating me just a few days ago, I can hit them on the break and win free-kicks in good areas of the pitch. Revenge is sweet :D

Happy Tackling;)

My big problem isn't my own tackling or defence with the guy i'm controlling, it's the other guys i'm not in control of. And i hated defending in pes6, this is where it started to go all wrong for konami.

Without reading this, I was defending like that :). I was surprised by the JUST HOLD X BUTTON AND YOU WON'T TACKLE, BUT PRESS THE DIRECTION TOWARDS THE OPPOSITION AND IT WILL TACKLE. I didn't know that. That's pretty useful. Thanks for sharing the link. :)
