OK so this may not be the best thread of all time but I have to get this off my chest. Where do the Fictional team names featured in the PES series orignate from?
I mean some are obvious....
Leeds United-Yorkshire (obvious)
Juventus-Piemonte (Turin is in the region of Piemonte right?)
Feyenoord-Noordzeekanaal (Rotterdam lies on the Coolsingel, which is basically the seaport to Europe, hence the canal)
Borussia Dortmund-Westfallen (play at the Westfallen stadium)
Then there are fictional team names with more tedious links...
Aston Villa-Dublin (Is this down to Dion Dublin or the number of Irish there are in Birmingham?)
Celtic-Ulster (Down to the catholic Irish connection)
Liverpool-Europort (Well if we're being pedantic Rotterdam is the main sea port in Europe)
But there are more odd team names dont you think?....
Manchester United-Aragon (???Arrogant,YES.But Aragon?Im confused, maybe Salford or Trafford would be more fitting?)
Manchester City-Lloyd (what the hell is this one about?)
West Ham - Lake District (Since when has the Lake District been anywhere near East London?I just cannot find the link here!!)
Do Konami look at a map and choose random place names from the teams country?Surely there are better ways of getting more accurate team names? Some of the names in PES3 are more accurate like West London for Fulham etc.. but there are still some calamities.
Before anyone posts, yes I am aware you can edit the names of
wrongly named teams.Im just curious.
