FIFA 07(current-gen) suprisingly amazing

I'm going to put FIFA 07 through its paces on Saturday. I'd really like enjoy the game and say that it is on a par with or at least catching PES. I will play the game with an open mind. Konami need to be pushed after all, as Seabass is too reliant on his 'best gameplay' moral high-ground in my opinion.
But i'm sure i'll be disappointed with the game as i always am every year.

To be honest I think some people on this forum are looking at things the completely wrong way.
How can you say that pes will ALWAYS be better? things do change. People need to realise that theres no point being almost tribalistic over it, your consumers, you want to buy the best product you can, simple as. Are you trying to say, for example, that if pes 6 was universally slaughtered by the gaming media and fifa07 crowned the new king of football games that you'd still be sitting here saying how crap fifa is and that pes "rulez" no you wouldn't! you'd complain about pes being rubbish and go buy fifa.
the simple fact is is that fifa is evolving, vastly improving. I at least play both games every year extensively and, yes, pes has been by far the better over the last few years but this years fifa is an extremely playable football game. Lets not forget as well that in some areas fifa is lightyears ahead of pes, in terms of presentation, sound, atmosphere etc.
my main point though is to just chill out, decide which games you want to play and go do it. its only a videogame after all

definately got to agree with you on the "best gameplay" moral highground aproach that Konami take. In all honesty, it's a joke. In many ways they only make half a game each year. The gameplays great, but the presentation, sound, atmosphere, amount of teams and leagues is just utter shite to be quite honest. I appreciate the problems with licenses because of EA but that doesnt mean you license one team (bayern munich) and remove the rest of the german league. If I was german, I probably woulndn't even bother buying the game now. Imagine if the premiership wasn't included?!?!?!
I'm not too sure wheteher you meant disapointed with fifa or with pes? are you not also slightly disapointed with pes most years, because I know I am.

I didn't really like FIFA 07 on the PS2, in fact i'm selling my copy on ebay so if anyone wants to buy it then go search for it.
I gave it a chance this year but i wasn't all that impressed with it. There where some good points about the gameplay and it is evident that they are improving that aspect slowly. But the player movements are just far too jerky for my liking and the actual player models themselves look ridiculous, you've only got to look at Crouch to understand what i mean.
I have to say though, i am very impressed with the look of FIFA 07 on the Xbox 360 and i will be tempted to rent it out........hopefully the gameplay is as good as these screens;

but this FIFA is not there yet, maybe next year or the year after that, but its still AMAZING and cant wait to get it(along with the allmighty PES)
all i want is a game with FIFA's licence and presentation and game modes with PES gameplay

But i agree with you when you say you are always a bit disappointed in PES. Yes the gameplay is fantastic but you soon realise that everything else hasn't moved on. The audio and presentation still harks back to the SNES days, and the Master League was a good concept when there was only a handful of club teams in the game, but is now so outdated its unreal.
In many ways FIFA is a lot closer to the perfect football game than PES because it only has one aspect to perfect - the gameplay.

A lot of people or let me say 99% of the people that buy PES, can buy Fifa, It is not a big issue, 30 quids are nothing. But why could I buy a game I surely know that I'll get rid of it or never use it after maximally within two months and at the same time I'll support the game producers while I can buy the game that I like and spend the whole season enjoying it !!!!!! It is just philosophy...sorry I know I am a complicated character...but.....this is me.
