Anyone on the PS3 fancy trying a 2v2 or 3v3 matchup later on with just members from here? I think we have enough people for this to be possible.

It might be possible, but how is it set-up without bints from outside coming in and playing?

Whenever I create a lobby, I can only invite one person to play a game, meaning I can't invite the other people because once I'm in, if I leave, I have to be re-invited.

I don't have a clue how to do invite people into games and whatnot, but I'll go with the flow if everyone wants a little 3v3 or something.

Still un-decided on the game overall though, it just doesn't feel natural for me.

It seems we have enough for a 2v2 then, so what time is best for everyone?

I would also be interested in an online league by the way.

That's... erm... rediculous!

The whole point in a chip shot is to hit it over the keeper, if he goes the right way. If you chip it down the middle, the only way the keeper's gonna be going the right way is if he stays still. This means he's standing up, on his line. Chipping the ball to a keeper in that position is the simplest catching practise there is!

That's why it's a cheeky/risky way to take a penalty. :fplm:

What?

No, it would be cheeky or risky to chip it over a diving keeper. See when he's diving he's not going to reach the top of the goal, hence why the chip is appropriate. Chipping it straight forwards (assuming the keeper dives) isn't cheeky, its just hitting it a different way. If the keeper stays still then it's a waste of a penalty.

That's like saying that chipping the ball into the net (when there's no keeper there) is cheeky. No it's not, it's just a bit of a stupid thing to do.

You use it & hope your opponent dives early (either side) which will make him look stupid. How many times have you seen the chip penalty used IRL? Not very often. You're not suppose to use it all the time, it's just there incase you want to.

I've seen the chip penalty used a total of twice. Once was Peter Crouch and that went over, the other I can't remember clearly.

Anyway, this isn't real football. Let me put it in context of gaming. You're not going to have every little detail that isn't functional and completely impractical. E.G. if you go round the keeper, you cant go down on your knees and tap it in with your head. You can't, for instance, shout "Ole" every time you use the "trick stick".

I know you could point to the trick stick itself, but nearly all the tricks have a use - the 360 spin can get you past somoene, or draw a foul, which juggling the ball can also achieve, while the body feints may well work in multiplayer mode (haven't tried it).

There actually isn't a use for the chip penalty in this case then. I've now repeated why this is so so I don't need to say so.

My simple point (the one that you keep using that irritating emoticon for) is that it would be far better if you could aim a penalty to the side. It is infinitely more "cheeky and risky" if a keeper dives to the side, and you chip it over his diving body, while he is suspended in mid air he can do nothing about your floated effort.

If you wanted, as you say, to make the keeper dive early, then in real life you would do what Ronaldo (in my eyes, illegally) does, and stops mid run-up.
