Something that's always annoyed me with FIFA's pens...say I was AC Milan (Ronaldinho, Pirlo, Pato, Robinho, Zlatan) would more than likely hit the penalties in a shootout? However if I bring a centre back on during the game or just any other player, for some reason they automatically hit the spot kick - even if their penalty stats are shit? unrealistic...

What on earth are jibbering about? You select who hits the penalties, in any case, when it comes to penalty shoot outs there's often a few surprising takers.

Yes, you select the PK taker. However, if you replaced your assigned penalty taker with a defender, the substitute will assume that role.

Something that annoys me is the inability to change captains during a match. It's not important, but I'd prefer to select a captain, rather than having some kid wear the armband.

One more is, not being able to choose team tactics. Fair enough, you shouldn't be able to create one from scratch (online), but we should be given the option to select one of the four defaults they provide - counter attack, high pressure, posession and long ball.

I mostly play Career mode, and the thing that mostly pisses me off is that, in my fourth season, players values/stats don't really ever decrease. A 35 year old Gerrard is still worth over £20m and is one of the best players in the world. I don't think I've seen one retirement yet, the amount of 40 year olds playing is a bit farfetched.

There's that, and there's the handball rule which if you foul someone and they fall onto the ball with their hands, you get the free-kick for handball which is obviously ridiculous. When the shoes on the other foot and I got taken out last man, only to see the other team awarded with a free-kick, then it's controller lobbing time tbh.

Even in a shootout? It's a non-issue really though, as you can quickly change taker with R1 or designate your takers in a shootout. I don't see how this is a problem. Why is this an issue with FIFA anyway? Does PES do it different these days?

This is a little annoying if you make a substitution for your captain, you shouldn't be able to change the captain if the original captain stays on the pitch but if you substitute captain it should ask you to designate the next captain.

These are all available from quick tactics on the D-Pad, press down then select the corresponding tactic.

I haven't played that far on Career Mode but this would be disappointing if true.

Handballs can be turned off, so you can't really complain, I think the way games replicate handballs is unrealistic so I have them switched off.

Not in a shoot-out. It doesn't bother me though, since you can quickly select taker by pressing R1.

That's what I mean. I would never change captain during a game, if the original captain is still on the field.

I thought the quick tactics were only short-term. I.e. once you select it, it will only be activated for the current phase of play. If not, then that's fine.

Tell me about it. Every blocked cross is handball. I turned that thing straight off after one season in career mode. The amount of times I said, "fuck this shit" was unhealthy.

I got an 8.6 rating playing in goal, and we lost 6 - 3, man of the match got 8.7, i was 2nd of course. Is that even possible? Can a team really be so crap that their gk let in 6 goals and was still nearly man of the match?

Answer: Yes

It's out for the Americans, god knows when it's out for Europe.

And it's free to play, as for buying packs you can either use 'coins' you earn from playing matches or selling players etc. to buy them or you can alternatively buy by using real money.

I'm really struggling with FIFA 11 at present. I play on Legendary as World Class was a bit of a walk over in terms of difficulty. I perhaps experiment with formations a little too often (in an effort to solve the problem) but, I simply cannot break away from the recurring results of 0-0 or 1-0 or 2-1 (at a stretch). It only got worse when I started changing formations to no avail, and then tweaking said formations to no avail, before reverting back to a 4-4-2 which seems to be my best set-up. Although, against certain opponents a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 can be the safer bet.

My problem lies with creating real clear cut chances. I can defend well. I can retain possession well. I can dribble quite well (with room for improvement). I can pop it about midfield and the final third with attacking intent well enough. But I rarely get more than two one on one situations ever few games, at best. And I always fluff one of them due to the pressure or pehaps the shock!

And this is with Manchester United, in career mode. I'm two, maybe three games from the end of the season and I'm probably going to finish fourth. Gutted!

It has stripped a lot of the enjoyment away in recent games. It cannot still be waiting to adapt to the game and I'm clutching at straws for ideas on how to improve things. I have no major gripes with the game, and I enjoy most aspects apart from my appalling lack of ability to score more goals.

Anyone got any advice? Or even a similar story of struggle before going on to smash every opponent?

Has anyone played MM with United and gotten to the point when the Big 4 retire? If so, how far into MM do they retire?

Finished 6th with Manchester United and was consequently sacked. Quite a learning experience for my first season. I had job offers from Liverpool, Manchester City, Tottenham and Aston Villa. I opted for Villa due to their core players (and not least their expectations being the safest) of Brad Friedel, Stiliyan Petrov, Stephen Ireland, Ashley Young and Gabby Agbonlahor. Stewart Downing is also insanely over-rated! But I think I can build a proper decent side around those few. Heskey and Delfouneso are suitable enough back-up or even striker partners for Gabby. I am in the market for another forward and maybe a few defenders, mind. And it looks like I have Borini and Frimpong coming in on the free.

I'm going to give Villa's default 4-5-1 formation a shot, in tandem with their default tactics which (if I'm correct) favor a more safe style of passing. Gotta change it up after my failure with United. I'll may opt for a 4-2-3-1, mind, as they have good players for that set-up.

-------- Gabby
Young - Ireland - Downing
-- Petrov - Reo-Coker

Ashley Young and Downing cutting in to shoot across the goal on their stronger sides. Their default 4-5-1 is practically the same but with Young and Downing hugging the touchlines.
