I heard that because of the small selling numbers of fifa 2003 the 2004 edition will be a "copy of PES/W11. do you think they'll make it? I don't. cause when you try to copy a game it's really hard to have agood result

I'm not talking about copying the whole game but the things that made PES/W11 the best footie game ever (gameplay, graphics etc, etc)

I mean that fifa2004 will be something like the PES/W11 series. they won't copy ML or the transfers or the menu but the gameplay and graphics. I heard this from a reliable source. e.g. when you play a match the first thing that will come to your mind will be PES/W11

AFAIK EA have the fifa licence until 2008. thats what i read in a games magazine a while back. dunno if its 100% true though. :)

EA may hold the licence but it doesn't stop other developers such as those behind TIF and the Club Football games from buying the rights to use them in their own games too.

MONEY!

everything is about money isn't it? are you sure that when a company has the rights another company can use them too? I think that they will have to take permission from the company that paid first for those rights and also they have to give them axtra money to use them. maybe this is what happened

I'd rather wait for PES4 or WE8 which has definate ONLINE Capabilities rather than turn over to the dark side.

That guy involved with the Club Football game wrote on here a short time ago but I don't think he answered the question on licencing issues.

I assume TIF etc pay EA and FifPro to use the rights or something like that.

I will wait for PES4 rather than going to the dark side too! Just cos fifa 2004 is online doesn't mean it'll actually make it a better game. We'll have to wait and hear from someone who has played it to let us know.

no one owns the rights to the names, leagues etc.

Any games manufacturer can buy a fifapro licence and/or additional licences such as the fa premier league.

Its just the dutch that have got a bee in their bonnet over rights, hence the terrible names. however i dont know what happened to germany in we7, all the names are screwed.

They used to show the FIfpro logo which covers most European teams. Don't know what they have now but it's great that Brazil are in.

i bet fifa wont sell it to pes because they know it will damage them too much because fifa would sell vitually no games. TIF have got it because fifa dont see them as much of a contendor.

I shouldn't think they had much they could do about it. If thses rumours are true then there must be some good reasoning behind it all.
