Hi there,

Now before you post your reply, first read the entire information very carefully - and then write down your opinions, thoughts - etc.
I know, all of you in here are die hard WE7 & PES fans, so please be honest and don't flame FIFA 2004 - in any way.

I first started playing football games when
International Superstar Soccer 64 was released on Nintendo 64 platform. I played that game for a while, I enjoyed it alot, and then I got International Superstar Soccer 98 now I really liked this game alot, it was so much better than ISS64 just like comparing PES3 ro PES2. Eventually I got tired of playing ISS98 so I decided to try FIFA games for the first time. My first EA football game was World Cup Soccer 98 also for Nintendo 64. I didn't know the differences between EA and KONAMI, so when I played EA's football game for the first time I started to like EA better than KONAMI football games. So then I played Fifa 97, 98, 2000 - actually I took a long break of playing games, so when I first played FIFA 2000 I was so happy and I thought this must be the best football game ever created, boy was I wrong...so just out of a curiosity I went online and typed "best Soccer Game" on Google's search engine it gave me some results like WE and PES. I didn't know what PES meant nor did I know what WE stood for. After I did some research I found out that some football game titles aren't being released in the U.S, like PES1 etc..then I waited for WE6:I to be released in the U.S so that was the first time I played again KONAMI football game. Jumping from FIFA 2003 to WE6:I was a good thing...I couldn't get enough of it..I used to play it for 10 good straight hours..but eventually you get tired of it as well..then I got WE7 it knocked my socks off, because it was alot better than any titles that I played before..So right now I'm waiting for my PES3 to arrive...and this brings me to FIFA 2004. I know for a fact that FIFA 2004 sucks if compared to WE/PES gameplay but everything else is a chalenge...these are some of the things that FIFA 2004 has an advantage over WE7/PES3 =

+ The entire game is fully 100% licensed.
+ More Club Teams as well as National Teams.
+ Club teams, and National teams are all updated with new players, roster changes etc.
+ More playing/challenging skills.
+ UEFA Championchips League tournament.
+ Way better graphics, along with superb animations.
+ More stadiums.
+ It has Championchip Manager 4 engine built it.
+ ONLINE PLAY
+ Weather changes, when playing on a day light it changed to night.
+ Off the ball control.
+ Solo ball playing,
+ Alot dribbling moves .. and much much more...

I also saw some movies on EA'S site, and they impressed me. The whole "A maing of FIFA 2004" move clips etc..very good.

I spoke to some WE&PES veteran players who are really educated and mature players of WE/PES series, and they played FIFA's 2004 demo, and they are really shocked, and suprised with everything they say...all of them afreed in one point it kinda plays like WE - gameplay has improved alot, and its nothing like FIFA 2003. WE7 is far far away from FIFA when the gameplay is an issue but everything else FIFA owns WE ?? Hard to belive this but I also spoke to a really good friend of mine, he's in Denmark who owns PES3 and FIFA 2004 full version..the first thing he told me was PES3 has better gameplay but FIFA 2004 eats PES3 for breakfast on anything else...and I also looked on some boards all people agree with them..even KONAMI admitted by saying "we didn't make the best titles this year, so FIFA 2004 is a really big competitor...This is the fact, FIFA & EA are improving their titles, while KONAMI brings slightly better gameplay with some minor changes...PLEASE don't take this the wrong way I'm a die hard fan of WE/PES3 but this is the truth, and I'm sure most of you will agree...

I think you summed it up perfectly in one sentence:

WE7 is far far away from FIFA when the gameplay is an issue

Thats all i care about and PES3/WE7 beats fifa on all account when it comes to this. I also have Fifa 2004 so i'm not being biased here.

I don't care if Fifa 2004 has all the real kits and licensing, we can now patch WE7/PES3 so we can add the real kits and we can change them when we want.

PES3/WE7 can be updated when we want too, either by doing it ourselves in the Edit mode, patching or downloading option files. That quickly solves the out of date roster problems.

WE7/PES3 has the Championship Manager engine built into it.

IMO the only things that Fifa beats WE7 on is the graphics and the online play. I do agree Fifa 2004 has come on leaps and bounds in the gameplay department but it still has a long way to go in catching Konami up.

Fifa did use to dominate the market place, but like Dannyboy mentioned the development of patches and patching tools has let us customise the game far beyond the normal constraints. We can have more teams then Fifa when combined with a multiple patch DVD, which can have 5 different versions all on 1 dvdr.

A fan of the series must appreciate and understand the capabilities of patching and how personalised you can make the game, this takes out a majority of Fifa's selling points and a fair amount of your listed advantages. If you don't like the teams...change them, if you don't like the music...change it, if you don't like presentation...change it etc etc. to the level that I have never seen in a fifa patch.

The one I do concede is online, it is a must needed feature and I hope to see it soon. Graphical I think some players just look weird, and look even weirder in PES/WE so we modify faces :)

Hope you've all seen the Gollum discussion :D

Last year i didn't have a PS2 so i was playing FIFA 2003 on my gamecube. No matter what anyone says, that was one fine footy game. It had eliments of the old ISS Pro 98 on the PS1, and i thought played very convincing. It was a lot tougher and less arcadey than previous FIFAs. i thought it was solid. No doubt this year FIFA 2004 is even more of a step up and the little touches sound great. But i must say that without an "edit" feature to change player kits and create/edit players then to me it seems like a glorified 2003 but with a better skin. If that's the case, i'll stick with PES3 for a while longer.

well, i had a similar post on the evo-web forum but it got deleted. i loved fifa98 and hated every newer version. with fifa2002 i was so disgusted that i bought the ps2 with pes. we'll, i did not even think that difference was sooo huge. i played the demo of fifa2k4 (with the expander, so i checked all levels) and i quit after i don't know 1 hour. it's simply sad. the best way to compare a the games is to set up a cpu cs cpu match. with pes3 you will see a real match, while on fifa it will make you laugh or cry.
i don't care for all the licenses if the game sucks. i'd rather spend i don't know 20 hours in editing pes3, it's simply so much better. pes3 is simply stupefying - it has minor flaws, but with the player transfer mode it has everything it needs. well maybe customizable competitions and the option to create teams.

I also used to like fifa games (world cup 98 was a very good footie game) but when i got fifa 2001 i was extremely diapointed, and then i rented iss pro veolution for the ps1 and it was an amzing game.i bought it straight away. the only time ive plyed fifa since was at my mates + that was 2002 and was crap. when i bought my ps2 with pes2 i was amazed at how good it was, now pes3 is even better. even with the gameplay getting better + licensing i still dont think i could ever go back to fifa.

I think that FIFA 2003 wasa big step forward but too may flaws make it's lasting appeal very limited. I never even finished a season - you just don't feel involved in the game play. When you go for a CHIP in PES it's down to your touch and timing as to whether it goes in or sails into row z. That's the big difference for me - interaction. Feeling like you are doing more than simply pressing the buttons. On that score FIFA can't compete.

Added to that FIFA's ball physics are shocking. It still feels the same as FIFA 99 to me - so much curve as to be almost funny if it wasn't so sad.

You can keep all the kits and sponsorship - there's no point having a Ferrari chassis if you've got a 1.2 Austin S- series under the hood! PES3 is a massive improvement in my opinion - despite what others might feel. THis one will grow and will rightly be regarded as the only console football game to buy!

FIFA = On rails gameplay, poor blurry graphics and choppy frame rate.....all it's pro's are superficial.

WE/PES = simulation football, beutifull graphics.

Enough said - there is only one game I require.

I've just played FIFA 2001 that I got with my PS2 on launch day for the laugh (a bit of light relief!) and it is horrendous! I also checked a DVD of FIFA 2004 and I don't think it seems alll that different.

The ball physics are really horrible. Lob a pass out to Giggsy on the left wing and watch how the ball floats up like a balloon and drops like a stone whilst swerving horribly. The ball will then stick to Giggsys foot and never come unstuck until you unleash a 40 yard screamer that flies into the top corner at unrealistic speed for the millionth time in 20 minutes. Sigh.

The new FIFA's off-the-ball modes look really pointless also. It just smacks of desperation really, and seems nothing more than a time wasting gimmick to me.

As for the graphics, I don't think they're that special. They seem far too bright and cartoony, the players have some weird shaped heads also. Pro Evo has a gritty, realistic look that compliments the gameplay perfectly.

FIFA does have an awful lot of teams, but in all honesty, how many of them do you ever use? Your favourite national and club teams and a few others. Who really wants to play as some club from the lower reaches of Kuwait?

Having said that, FIFA undoubtedly knows how to shift copies with all the real player names and likenesses and you have to respect that. However I'll stick with Pro Evo 3 and have more fun editing the teams kits and names myself!! And I'll keep it up to date better than EA ever could!

Im a die hard pes fan.But i played fifa 2004 yesterday and was very impressed with the game play.It actually lets you play football at the speed you want to play.I only played multi player matches with my mate.So i dont know wether the single player mode will be good.I think konami have made the game a little fast this year.It seems like you dont have time to think were your going to pass or shoot. Also the computer misses to many guilt edged chances.
