I got it today, and its slowly getting better but still well short of PES.

Very buggy with players sort of jumping to get into more suitable position. For example sometimes when you play a through ball it looks like the defender can intercept but suddenly he cant.

AND a far more annoying bug is I scored from a free kick, but the keeper saved it...he was well behind the line and the whole ball had crossed the line(can get the replay if anyone doesnt believe me) but no goal was given.

I will say its fun to play though, as long as you dont come across too many bugs, online play is cool, and the commentry is better than PES. At this rate though EA is never gonna catch up.

i'am one of the biggest crtics of fifa around but i decided to get it becuase i had many games that i don't play and needed traded in. Straight away i noticed many improvements in the game and although still far off the quality pf pes4 i found the game very smooth and games ebb and flow nicely. The animation is excellent and there is more variation in scoring, it felt brilliant when i hammered in a volley with scholes.Usually i get bored of fifa after 3-4 matches but i have played the game solid since friday. Although i know for certain that the day i get pes5 i will never play fifa 06 ever again at least i have something to keep me occupied until the master and god of my life that is pes5 comes out.

i did the exact same thing, traded in some of my old shitty games i dont play any more. still had to pay a tenner but hey, it'll cost you £3 to rent it for a few days may aswell pay a bit more and keep it. i actually really like it, but theres no way it can even touch pro. i mean its good fun, but theres just something missing that pro just has.

Ok i got FIFA this morning and i must say that its the best FIFA ever, you wouldnt thinkt hat canadians make this game. theres a real 'british' feel to it with great songs and classic goal videos. It feels like it was made by the fans, the opening video is awesome, with many clips of football from around the world, most of it from the Premiership. I then watch a video of 10 great football moments including Beckhams Half-way line goal. First match i beat chelsea 2-1, They never really tested me although i was playing on semi-pro, which is under proffesional and then world class. Heres one ( not so good ) screeny of Van Nistelrooy scrambling to score the first after Rooney's saved shot.

Also free-kicks and corners are totally natural, just like on pro evo, none of that messing about selecting the reciever and stopping it in the green marker.

I'm no fifa fan but here are some xbox 360 shots of fifa road to world cup
as strange as zizou looks the game is shaping up well on the 360 :)

I hate to say it but FIFA 06 isn't actually that bad.

I bought it on Saturday morning, played on it in the afternoon and was very disappointed with it. The gameplay seemed alot slower then what I was used to and became bored after just one match.

I played on it again today, toggled with the controls and it feels better now. Obviously, it'll never be like PES but it's ten times better than 04 and 05. EA have a long way to go to make their franchise the best but they took a leap forward this year, lets hope they keep improving over the next few years and hopefully we'll have a functional game that is as good as PES.

Codename...are they in-game graphics?

I believe that fifa will use the full capability of the graphics on the 360, whereas I feel PES wont and wouldn't look as good as the next gen fifa.

Fifa has always had better graphics than PES, but thats not enough anymore as sales of PES show. Fifa on the 360 could be photorealistic but until they sort out the buggy game play its never gonna beat PES.

Judging by other games i've seen on the XBOX 360 i'd say they were in game ;)
