Fifa 2012 Player Thinking About PES 2012

Hi all,

I wouldn't consider myself a massive FIFA fan but I bought it a couple days ago....have to say in a lot of ways I'm really enjoying it. However there are some things really beginning to piss me off :

1. New defending system makes it very hard to win the ball back
2. Online play completely broken with exploits and cheaters
3. Shots seem magically drawn to the keeper or the posts or crossbar

I played PES years ago and what really pissed me off was the scripting...it was soo predictable...2-0 with 10 mins to go then the AI went into super mode and my defenders magically ran out of stamina...result was a 2-2 draw.

I am downloading the PES demo now and will give it some time today. So I've read a lot of reviews and watched a lot of youtube videos but I my question is...any other FIFA or "NON PES FANS" out there that have made the change this year and what's your thoughts on the new PES?

Is it about time I considered giving PES a good go?

Update : Playing Demo now....really good!

Seems the pitches are bigger than FIFA...more feeling of space...graphics look sharper as well. Plus I'm actually getting some shots on goal!

Update :
Only playing on Regular mode so far, noticing some scripting but not too bad...I think that Friday FIFA will get traded in for PES 2012.

I think the thing is with comming from FIFA to PES is that in FIFA you can go through the entire career mode without ever having to really change tatics, formations or without having to sub players.

Yes PES can seem scripted at times, But players will loose stamina towards the end of the game, and if the AI is chasing a goal they will make a sub of bringing on a striker taking of a defender and change there tatics and formation, you'll have to counter that by making the right substitution and changing your formation and tatics accordingly.

Scripting, or AI cheating I believe, is proportional to how you go about defending in the game. Things that send scripting into overdrive could be such things as rushing too hastily into a tackle, constantly holding down sprint, not positioning your players correctly lots of times etc etc. You have to play a patient defence in this game otherwise the CPU will just go turbo on you.

played fifa 12 and career mode is fixed which is a bad thing meaning theire offlihne can easily be better than pes next year if they add better modes. PLayer growth makes sense and players improve even if not played. they have youth academy realistic scouts and players send oyu message if they wantp playing time. To be honest if it had cutscenes and better layouts which m,orwe strategy, konami should worry

Hi Abu,

Have you read the FIFA forums? Career mode is very bugged...AI player growth and stamina grows far quicker than realistic, corrupted seasons leading to wasted playtime. Online is a disaster...just look for the "GK Cheat" online that everyone is using. The number of people refusing to play online until the cheats are ironed out is amazing. At the moment FIFA is an offline only game.

TBH after playing the PES demo for 3 hours now I'm def going to trade FIFA in for PES.

If you spend any time playing FIFA 12 (as I have) then you'll get very very tired very quickly of the new Tactical Defending...it now feels like a non contact sport.

I dont want to start a flame war but I've enjoyed 3 hours with the PES demo more than I have the full FIFA game for the last week.

I cant play fifa becuase of the micro freezing thats still in the game from last year, tactical defending is good but frustrating at times.

that is so true, i have my finger permanently on the sprint button, and it is so not on, makes defending very difficult, need to iron that out

also i found out that i struggle when i play againts calmer friends cause i am always running...

I have been a Fifa fan for the next gen games, but this year im going back to PES as its different challenge, the master league was addictive in PS2 days and looks good this year too. So you are not the only one changing to PES this year. When I get the game, im going on the training challenge to get used to PES again

i think that refers to PES2011 - When every slow defender could catch any fast player by catching them up!

If you don't like tactical defending change it to legacy defending on selct sides which is one many people do.
Also moriah888, master lague has some annoying problems like trainings kinda bugges but overall pes ha way better game modes but i just feared for a moment that fifa could catch up and amend their bugs but reading forums career mode has mixed reviews

we all know that it is scripted in master lague and saying it's because of pressing the sprint button is a lame excuse. It could be a reason but it hardly affects it. Its because the computer puts so much pressure on you like spain or barca making you play sloppy. The scripting is mainly on top player because that is when every team you verse plays like barca or spain tacticswise but on professional every team plays like theyb should and it's the same on regular eventhough it's easier.
I'd suggest regular or professional to avoid scripting and to get the most out of the game
