FIFA looks better than PES

^Fixing gameplay is the best they can do. I want a game that relys on other stats rather than strength and speed which was in pes 2008's case. I hated that. I mean yes in real life those 2 facotrs can be a fact in a football game but there are other stats that are important. Oh and I want 100% better defending.

Exactly, there's nothing wrong with including Pace and Strength -however- they should give even more importance to aspects such as Defending, off-the-ball movement (Tactical Awareness), Dribbling, and Passing.

They should give a priority to "Passing and Movement" -wich- is something that doesn't requires "star-players" to do it effectively.

And again, if Konami; fixes the Movements, introduces a Next Gen Dribbling and Defensive system, establishes a 50/50 balance between Defensive Play and Attacking Play, turns "Shooting" into something easier (with world class finishers) -while- at the same time making the space required to score a goal harder to find..

If Konami does similar changes (in this case Improvements), then they should have a good game. With that said, I'm not really exited about PES09 -but- I do want to know what Konami has been doing for the past 2 years.

Is PES09 just another polished PES4?? Or is it a new PES with more depth and substance to it?

First PES09 trailer: http://www.video.dpadmagazine.com/20...er-2009-messi/

Gotta say the graphics do look impressive in motion.

It's been said that the video is actually A "PES08 video" labeled as a "PES09 video"..

I was worried because a part of the the crowd actually disappeared by the 27th second of the video clip, and also because the Graphics look exactly the same as last year.

That video clip does NOT haves the Graphics we've seen in the pics.

And even if it really is PES 2009, then the Graphics are disappointing in my opinion -and- it looks as though Messi will be uncontainable -just- like in PES 2008.

I hope that's a PES 2008 video.

Messi looks uncontainable? Where did you get that from?

He did barely anything in that video and even then he only featured more because he's the coverstar.

Personally I'm looking forward to this game, WENB were right about Messi being the coverstar, were right about the Champions League licensense, and their last podcast said after playtesting the game is back to its very best, so I'll believe that too.

Hey Amateur, ive got a bad feeling that it was said tongue-in-cheek, and that the living nightmare we dreaded has come true.... i.e. that IS a PES 2009 in the video

I'm a little confused because Peter Willis said that "Konami have released footage of what appears to be Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 and labelled it PES 2009. It is unconfirmed who made this error, but we’re trying to clear it up ASAP".

So I don't know if it is PES 2009, or not.. However, I did noticed that the crowd is clearly NOT the same crowd we had in PES08. So, it could very well be PES 2009.

And as for Messi being "uncontainable" -I- said that because I find it funny that Messi is doing Roulettes and Cuts.. I mean, yeah Messi is great at cutting the ball and at getting past opponents with the most basic Dribbles; Body Feints, Cutting the Ball, changes in speed.

But really, when has Leo Messi ever performed a 360º spin??

And by the way, if it is PES09 -then- the Graphics have barely changed at all.

I think Peter Willis was venting his frustration.... the reality is this is Pes 2009, love it or hate it......

All we can do is get on our knees and pray that Konami will perform a miracle and come out with something that bows us out of the water...

I know everything has its lifecycle, but it would be really sad if pes was nearing the end of its as the whole organisation may crumble with Kojima productions being absorbed by a bigger company...

That short video clip was Disappointing to say the least.

However, I'll try to reserve the comments until after I get to see a proper video clip of the Gameplay.

By the way, it's not like the Graphics aren't good.. the thing that disappoints me is that the players faces still look lifeless -it- would be cool to see some animations such as; the players breathing after a run, or the player moving their mouth after a particular play, etc, etc..

I think the Graphics are fairly good for a PES game, but they should have better animations.

And that's the thing I noticed about FIFA.. I personally don't like what I've seen so far about FIFA09 -because- it's just a highly polished FIFA08. However, something I did liked where the animations; players moving their mouths, players pointing where they want the ball, players moaning to the ref, etc, etc..

But anyways, that videoclip is way too short to make anything out of it.

I agree with you on the fact that from far Fifa does look perfect. However when you watch the replays and such on Fifa 08, the players have very wierd and quirky movments and their face seem completely expressionless.

In terms of gameplay, I was dissapointed with both games. Pes feels way too arcadey while Fifa 08 is just way too slow. When playing World Class on Fifa 08 it is almost impossible to score from a counter attack. This gets pretty annoying and results in the same kind of goals being scored over and over again( goals that curl into the net from the edge of the box.)

With all that being said, I do think that PES 09 will be better than Fifa 09. All Konami needs to do is fix online play, give a new mode to play(Be A Legend sounds interesting) and fix the gameplay to give it a more tactical feel.

i agree with you on the counter attack comment, it can be quite stale but i did like the challenge of fifa when playing with pass and shotting assistance turned off, this does make the game different and physics aloow you to create clever passing sequences. this wont matter when pes is released
