FIFA looks better than PES

Not including the 09 edition, Pro Evo has always looked and played better than FIFA. This year it looks as good, but not better.

^I won't comment on the screenshots until I see more and maybe an HD gameplay movie. That would be my final judgement but judging from those screenshots the stadiums do look better.

Thanks guys for your replys and opiniions.

First of all let me clear that I have played FIFA 08 on XBOB 360 & PES 2008 on PS2.

By saying that graphics in FIFA are better I mean FIFA is very cosmetic. Player Kits, faces during match replacements looks very good and that's very much all. It is good for kids.

When it comes to gameplay FIFA is not even close to PES 08 which is the lowest game in PES series I have played so far. I don't play master league or P1 vs com but mostly (90%) I play human vs human with my cousins and we gave try to both the games with alot of interest but in our opinion FIFA's gameplay is nothing when compared to PES especialy in human vs human matches. In PES you have a special feeling of somehow controling the gameplay of your team but in FIFA no such feelings.

You should try playing PES 2008 on PS3 -the- game is just as bad as FIFA08, maybe even worst..

I agree but...

According to Konami: ‘The new game has undergone a stunning graphical update to ensure its players look and move even more like their real-life counterparts.

So by the time it comes out, pes 09 should look better :)

Most people are saying that "the graphics are almost the same as in PES08" -however- I have noticed clear noticeable improvements in the screenshots.

I guess we'll get to see that when the demo comes out. But still, I'm pretty convinced that the graphics will look great.. The thing that really concerns me is if PES09 will play as good as it looks -because- PES08 surely didn't.

Anyways, I like that quote; "‘The new game has undergone a stunning graphical update to ensure its players look and move even more like their real-life counterparts."

Does this means that Konami will actually release a "New Game" -instead- of a tweaked version of PES08 (or PES6). And, "move even more like their real-life counterparts" -I- suppose, Seabass and his team have introduced even more Dribbling Styles.

It would be massively cool if distinctive players such as Juan Roman Riquelme or Zinedine Zidane actually moved and dribbled like their real-life counterparts. That's something I haven't seen in any Football Sim yet, and I would really appreciate it IF further differences where established.

Differences between players with different (or distinctive) Types of Movements and Dribbling moves. Examples?? Cristiano Ronaldo is technically gifted, and although distinctive, his movements are STIFF -on- the other hand, Zinedine Zidane (or Robinho, or Riquelme) is technically gifted and distinctive, but haves an elegant-fluid style of Movement WHEN the ball is at his feet.

That's something that is really disappointing for fans of the aesthetic, it is always disappointing to see that distinctive players such as Zidane and Riquelme Move and Dribble in the same exact manner as everyone else.

Konami should give more life to the players on the game. We already have 4 different dribbling styles in the PES series, the same dribbling styles that have been around for some 5 years or so -maybe- Konami has decided to finally improve on that aspect, maybe PES09 will boast 10 Different Dribbling Styles -or- Trademark Dribbling moves.. PES09 could offer something NEW to the series.

^You're abseloutley right on the dribbling part. I would really like to see it in the new game. It could really improve the game's realism. I can't wait for a gameplay movie.

Maybe New Dribbling Styles -or- New Stats that influence the dribbling style of a player.. Maybe such a thing won't make a HUGE difference to the gameplay. BUT the LIFE and realism it would add into the game -would- surely compensate for it's lack of gameplay relevance.

I mean, how disappointing is it to have players such as Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, and Michael Ballack -Dribbling and Moving- in the same exact manner as Zinedine Zidane and Juan Roman Riquelme.

There are many differences and variations.. For example, although both are fast and gifted, Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have clear differences in their Technique. Leo Messi seems to FLOAT through the pitch (much like George Best) -while- on the other hand, Cristiano Ronaldo looks much more STIFF in his movements.

Some would say that Leo Messi is more gifted, others would say he haves more flair, or some would simply say that "Messi is more graceful" -but- the FACT still remains that they have Different styles of Technique.

Suggestions?? New Technique Stats -or- New Dribbling Styles, etc, etc.. Surely something can be done about this. However, a completely different matter is IF Konami actually took the time (and effort) to work on this aspect of the game.

I think pes's graphics look better.

The lighting affects in fifa are stupid, unrealistic and make their heads look white.

fifa graphics look fantastic from far but when you zoom in on the players they look zombified n discoloured only a few players look real eg. rooney, ronaldinho apart from that most of the players on pes look exactly like their real life counterparts. oh ye and another thing in fifa when you play at night in the game the pitch and stadium look awfully dark and gloomy when in real life stadiums are well lit.

By better graphics of FIFA I mean graphics in cut scenes and celebrations etc.

Next gen version of Pes 2008 has better graphics than next gen Fifa. But Fifa's difference in graphics between the ps2 and ps3/360 is huge but still Pes has better graphics especially the players.

the fifa 08 gameplay is better than pes 08 no one can argue with that, but it isnt better than the ps2 version. maybe i am being to optimistic but i cant see fifa being better than pes this year. If the gameplay we all know and love returns then pes cant be beaten. In terms of graphics both games have there own look, fifas player models and quite over exaggerated but when playing the game it does look perfect and this is something that should improve this year. I still and always have believed the player appearances on pro beat fifa hands down. Some players such as amauri have there appearance in fifa but they all look plastic. To sum up if pes goes back to the great simulation it was rather than the arcade mess of this year then the good times are back and fifa can leave my life.

I agree with you on the fact that from far Fifa does look perfect. However when you watch the replays and such on Fifa 08, the players have very wierd and quirky movments and their face seem completely expressionless.

In terms of gameplay, I was dissapointed with both games. Pes feels way too arcadey while Fifa 08 is just way too slow. When playing World Class on Fifa 08 it is almost impossible to score from a counter attack. This gets pretty annoying and results in the same kind of goals being scored over and over again( goals that curl into the net from the edge of the box.)

With all that being said, I do think that PES 09 will be better than Fifa 09. All Konami needs to do is fix online play, give a new mode to play(Be A Legend sounds interesting) and fix the gameplay to give it a more tactical feel.
