A quick Q, is it worth leveling up in order to beat the 1st Demonwall in the Tomb of Raithwell in order to get the Demonsbane?

I never did it but maybe. Once you defeat him you are best to save then get the treasure because the odds on you getting at first are slim I think.

To answer my own question, the Demonsbane rules, Vaan & Basch just obliterated the Esper in the centre of the Raithwell Tomb, Vaan with Demonsbane, Basch with Iron Hammer.

Final Fantasy XII is the best game besides God Of War II in my opinions.
With its great graphics and gameplay, i'm sure RPG gamers will play it.
Although i don't really like the gambit & the license-boards system.

BTW, for ppl who didn't buy this game yet, check this site for review of this game.

By best game do you mean like best game ever? Final Fantasy XII is okay but still below expectations of what is expected in a Final Fantasy game.

I was gonna give Basch a hammer but because the damage is random and really didn't want to get to a spot when it was all up to him and only does 2 damage. I probably should have tried it out but in the end I stuck with spears most of the time before moving onto great swords near the end.

Yes, i know what you mean, but it's worth the risk i have found, as it's always nice when in a sticky situation, and Basch hits for 800+ out of the blue.

I really have a hard time deciding wether to get this or not. I rarely have money to spend, especially on games, and if I want to buy this game my 'birthday money' would be gone.

Since I fucking loved FF8, could you guys tell me if it's better or not?

I take it you don't get a lot of birthday money?

To answer your question I would say Final Fantasy VIII is better. Most people who have only played recent installments (Final Fantasy X and up) would probably prefer it to the turn-based strategy but seeing as you like Final Fantasy VIII, I doubt you will find XII better.

One of its main flaws is despite you controlling the main character (Vaan) he has absolutely nothing to do with the story and basically is just "along for the ride". If he wasn't the main character, you probably wouldn't even recognize him as he is always sits back at cutscenes and on the odd occasion he talks, it is nothing but crap. The story is confusing, and the gambit system is very encouraging to be lazy. Infact, there is a loophole in the game were you can keep killing respawns of enemy. You can sleep over night while you level up. The game doesn't take much skill, if any and it is easy to complete.

I would suggest sticking with FFVIII if you have to choose between them but sometime in the future if you have money and maybe the price is down, you should play the game as it is enjoyable just some very noticable flaws in the game. I've been meaning to get back to FFVIII (I got to disc 3, just after you get the Ragnarok.)

I'm very slowing progressing in this game, i'm determined to complete this before i buy a PS3/Wii/XBOX360.

I've gone through the Phon Coast, and my team are all levels 33-40, with some nice equipment! Any ideas % wise how far I have to go, as the story doesn't really seem to have kicked off yet, just seem to be running through pretty areas to find another treasure.

Not long now, just a couple of areas. The travelling takes up a lot of time (especially the part you are doing now.)

Little tip. Any weapons you have that have Dark on hit then you are best removing. I bought a ninja blade at the phon coast but didn't realize that 3 of the next 4 bosses would absorb this and because I sold my previous weapon it left me with just the Sword of Kings (which is just utter crap).

hahaha, thanks for the tip, Vaan and Basch with Platinum Swords, and Ashe with a Demonsbane seem to be doing the trick for me!
