Fluid Formations allow your players to adapt to when In Possession and when Out of Possession of the ball. You have to turn it on in the tactical options.

You can preset the formations and edit positions for being In or Out of possession. You can also choose an addtional Custom and Defensive formation that you can select while in play by using your D-pad up or down. Just like your general formation, you can also set the Custom and Defensive formations to adapt slightly when In or Out of possession.

I use it like this:

Offensive Formation (this is your general default formation)
When In possession I may play a 4-1-2-1-2 diamond with both forwards pressed high in attack
When out of possession i will move one of those strikers back. I can do this by simply Edit Positions

I have my Defensive Formation set to a 4-2-3-1, and use it if I am protecting a late lead. This drops one of my 2 midfielders back into a DMF position

Then I have my Custom Formation set to be an ultra-attack of that 4-1-2-1-2 diamond and use it when I am trying to equalize (long ball instead of short passing, move fullbacks up, etc)

You can only have all these changes possible if you have Fluid Formation turned on.

It appears Konami has taken away a general level switch of "ultra-defensive" graded to ultra-attacking, much like EA FIFA still allows using the Left Right on the Dpad. So Fluid Formations is the only 'in play' modification that allows you to change the mindset of your team without pausing and going to the edit formation screen every time.

you're wrong dude..fluid formation is formation that activate automatically when you're on/out possession of the ball,so you don't need to press any button, just like in the real football..you can use right analog to review the formation in gameplan menu after you turn on the fluid formation.

the custom and defense is the fromation you should press with d-pad..offensive is the same as fluid formation..
thanks..

I just firgured out, is this right?
U turn on the fluid formation right!
Then in the Tactical Options, they have Defensive and Custom
Custom mean the preset tactic u r using right!
Then each of their own Defensive and Custom, they have 3 points ( KIck Off, In Possession, Out Possession)
So u just fix that own 3 points to fix ur tactic! Thats it! That called Fluid Formation!
Am I Right???
U can choose either Custom or Defensive! Each of this two have 3 points I said above already!

Your slightly wrong, I was a little confused about it myself at first. You actually have 3 tactics. Your default tactic is in "Preset tactics" in the game plan menu. It's called "Offensive"(says it above your team in gameplan), and is your default tactic(the one you'll start the match with). "Tactical options" in the gameplan menu are your other two tactics, "Custom" and "Defensive". So, you have 3 different tactics, "Offensive"(Your default one), "Custom" and "Defensive". Yes, each of them have the three points you mentioned. So, 3 tactics with 3 points each.

You can also change which one is your "Preset tactic"(default). You should also look at "Team Instructions" in each tactic. You can press select/back on your joypad to get up a menu that explains everything in team instructions and everything else in the gameplan.

the fluidity is not having to change anything.....the kickoff, in and out of possession

but you also have that fluid option for Offensive, Defensive and Custom.

so when you think of it, you have 9 possibilities of changes without ever having to pause the game.....3 fluid formations per Offensive, Defensive, and Custom tactic.

i think you understand it well enough. and of course you can edit long ball/posession/ in each and for Out of Possession you can assign man marks.

As another example of how Fluid Formation works for me playing as Manchester United. I have Rooney and van Persie forward, and Mata playing behind them while IN POSSESSION. But when OUT OF POSSESSION, i edited positions so Rooney swaps with Mata so Rooney can add more defensive support. I like being able to do this.

However, I do miss the old style multi-level attack mindeness from previous PES vesions and such as still in EA FIFA. oh well

But guys, I still have one more question?
How about Assisted Setting ( the Simple Settings: Long ball, Possession, All out defense, etc...) is this apply for Offensive Default tactic or all 3 tactics ( Offensive, Custom, Defensive) or where it apply for? Thanks again guys!
Or just leave unedited!

you can set those tehe way you want. I go long ball on custom because that is my 5min remaining, need a goal tactic.

but on regular offensive default, i choose short passing. However that is all preference more than need.

So, I just get a bit...I'm gonna test again later! Is this right?
Thanks a lot guys, but I felt like I'm confusing or u guys made me confused ?!?^^
There are 3 tactics ( Main Offensive, Custom and Defensive in Tactical Options)
Each of tactic, had their own 3 points!
That 3 points called Fluid Formation! And fluid formation very needed when u play, if u read it, how useful of Fluid formation!
So, turn on Fluid Formation!
And just use Main Offensive with 3 points and set them! U don't need to use 3 tactics in one game! This was confused me! ( I used 3 tactics and my team messy all over the places) just use one tactic ( Main offensive)
Cause those 2 Custom and Defensive are just additional options!
So that was confused me the second times! That's it!
But I don't know how we use those 2 additional! Seems very messy! If we edit or preset...
I don't know why Konami put 3 there! Instead just turn on the fluid formation and we ready to use those 3 points in Main Offensive! I think that is enough for tactic, attack and defense!
I did use those 3 tactics! With the up and down D-pad! And everything fucking messy!
It got no points...
I am said right?
