Just finished my first season with Newcastle, finished second in the league behind Arsenal. Chelsea finished 5th, but unfortunately they won the CL so they qualified anyway. Luque and Owen scored 50 goals between them, and Shearer got 15 as well, including 4 against Blackburn on the final day of the season in his last ever match for the club, how fitting was that? Made some good signings so far, got Drogba, Balzaretti, Digard, Besagno, and Katsouranis, as well as Gasbarroni on a free. My first team looks like this.

Play Drogba at the top of a Christmas tree, with Luque and Owen making runs off him. Didier Drogba is a machine in my game - he just keeps on scoring.

As do Michael Owen and Albert Luque, however.

I am stupid and have accidently loaded some stuff onto my Football manager disc and it wont let me delete it.

Does anyone have any idea of how to get rid of this or reformat the disc or something like that?

I've updated my game (again) with transfers and restarted - Andrea Pirlo and I are having a pre-season bust-up because he thinks he's achieved all he can with the club and turned down a new five-year deal offered to him because he said he wanted an improved contract. Fuckwit.

I've so far signed Marco Cassetti (£1.8m, who I forgot to transfer to Roma before starting my game), Mirko Vucinic (£9.5m), David Suazo (£8m), Thomas Dorsi (£10k) and Pietro Zammuto (about £200k). I've also had about nine bids for Christian Chivu rejected and my latest offer is for £14.25m. Have so much money due to Shevchenko's move. Manchester United beat myself and Liverpool to the signing of Carlos Tevez who has joined them for £14.5m to replace Van Nistelrooy.

Suazo, Vucinic and Gilardinho? I don't know your system but I would say that you won't make it to March before one of them complains about not playing.

Also if anyone is about to start a new game, may I sugggest they download the DDT Generator (just stick it in Google). It allows you to load players withour loading the league.

For example, I wanted to manage Palermo in Serie A, but also wanted all the players in Spain, Brazil, Argentina, France, Germany, England, Holland but couldn't load those leagues because the game would run too slowly. So you select these files in the DDT generator and then tick the preference to use it in-game. This is perfect as you have a bigger selection of players but other leagues don't slow your computer.

P.S when I say it doesn't load the leagues, the players are still st their clubs just you can't manage those clubs.

Suazo, Vucinic and Gilardinho? I don't know your system but I would say that you won't make it to March before one of them complains about not playing.

Both Vucinic and Suazo joined as squad rotation players. I play a 4-1-2-1-2 or 4-1-3-2 both of which will allow me to use Suazo in an attacking midfield role as in the 4-1-3-2 two of the players get move out from the centre and fly forward.

One thing I'm not sure about is that this 4-1-2-1-2 formation worked brilliantly when I started a Milan game two weeks ago but as I decided to update more transfers and start again, in pre-season crap teams (except for in my first match where I had 45 shots against 0) have had a stupid number of chances against me. In the previous game from two weeks ago that wasn't the case. Only the big teams in Italy were getting a fair number of chances.

That will work, as you will be playing Suazo in AM.

If you patched the game it might change your results etc. Patches can tweak the AI, restrict penalties, turn the strictness down of the ref etc. So maybe that affected your results.

Done well with Rangers so far. I'm in March and 3 points clear of Celtic. Won both Old Firm games 2-0 at home and 4-1 away. Topped my Champions League group stages. With AC Milan, PSV and Sparta Prague. Beat Sparta 4-0 at home and 2-1 away. Lost to Milan 3-0 away and won 1-0 at home. I got a player sent off in the away leg and Milan got someone sent off in the home leg. I could have scored just as many as Milan, although Dida was on excellent form. :shocking: Beat PSV 2-0 at home and lost 5-1 away. PSV came second in my group as Milan drew with PSV in both legs and Sparta. Was great to be first and seeded but was pissed off with who I got - Chelsea, best unseeded team in the last 16. Lost 3-1 away and 2-2 at home. I went 2-0 up in 15 minutes, but usually when the better team are losing they respond instantly, 3 minutes later they got there goal.

Ive just started a game with Real Madrid. I started with 700k, because they wanted me to prove myself, so I just won a few friendlies and then I hit them for s bu, so I got 16m, then I sold Raul for 15m, so 31m to spend and it went on... Cannavaro 9.25m, Kompany 8m, Tuncay 6m, Nang Chang Wang 800k (I forget his name he's a goalkeeper from Korea), Park Joo Young 1.5m and I was wondering if anyone could name a player or players to sign quickly before the window closes in the game as I want another handy midfielder whos not too expensive and likewise for a defender, maybe two defenders...?

Also won't Football Manager 07 come out in September time? If so is it worth you starting a deep game with Milan, as by the time the transfer window closes it will almost be time for the next game. Be some Hungarian bottom division side and make an effort to get them in the Champions League.


@Charlie - Loe Bing plays EVERY position (except GK) in the game and has a lot of 20's AMAZING. AND he is young, AND he improves so much.

For defenders - Grosso, Deschadt (plays for Anderlecht, wrong spelling), Palleta, Gioda all do a job on the bench or in the team.

FM 2007 is meant to be out in November/December. I could do the Hungarian challenge but I always end up getting pissed off when Milan a) insist on playing Kaka in a front-two, b) barely use their best players and c) sign Freddy Adu.
