They're making Heat into a videogame? Add it to the list of naff movie rip offs, not one of which has made a good game. This is seriously starting to piss me off, make a good game off you're own bat, don't just use a cracking movie to sell copies.

The Godfather was facking awful. My mate says Scarface is quite good so I may have a look at that one but the general trend is great films get made into quick shit money spinning games.

Feel free to rip off Little Britain, it's utter bollocks and needs no rubbishing so I don't care, but don't touch classic films.

scarface was a decent movie to game conversion but after the novelty wore off it got boring quickly. I can see the same thing happening for heat same gta clone with the same do the side missions to get to the main story mission it will not do the movie any justice.

That's where the money is. I caught Cybernet the other day, yes this TV game show is bullshit but noticed about 7 games out of the top 10 where all from films. Some of the names were The Ant Bully, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Jack Sparrow and Cars got No. 1 (This would probably be a few months back.) I'm not sure if they come up with the lists because 1 of the games in there that they critisized (The Ant Bully.)

I wouldn't mind playing the bank scene. Thing is you can just play Counter-Strike for the same thing.

But the real question is...

What's worse? A game based on a film or a film based on a game?

As for these movie game tie-ins (or should that be cash-ins?) they have been around since most of us were born... and yes, 99% of them have sucked. But while clueless gamers will go out and buy a title purely on the name or franchise then it will always remain.

However that's not good enough for these developers is it! They dig up classic titles and can even go as far as tarnishing the franchise to get the money. (The only two games I can think of that have successfully got away with it are The Warriors & Scarface).

Of course it's easy to blame the developers & publishers, but some responsibility has to lie with the deluded gamers who buy a game purely on the franchise (FIFA) every year. ;)

The Warriors is definetly a good film based game, the storyline worked well on the game. I haven't played on Scarface but from what I have been hearing it is actually quite good.

GoldenEye 007 was a fantastic game for the N64. I would probably consider that the best film-to-game convertion.

Just about every movie that was based on a game sucked. Super Mario Bros., Final Fantasy Spirits Within and Advent Children, Street Fighter, Resident Evil (haven't seen the second yet but could imaging that it was probably just as shit as the first, if not worse.) I haven't seen or heard anything about Doom but it will probably be shit, and I hear that The Rock is set to star in yet another going to be shit game-to-film. I heard Silent Hill was absolute shite. How shit was Tomb Raider? Haven't seen the second but I don't think I will bother after the first. Now we have Metal Gear Solid and Halo coming.

I think what makes games-to-films shite is the fact that they don't stick with that game plot. They take the characters and the general idea of the game and then they completely fuck it around. They should just try and make a film where it is basically like the game. No different scenarios because that was the reason the game was good in the first place. The odds of someone still liking it after its been fucked around with are slim.

The Warriors is one of the best games on the PS2. I could never get bored of it. Scarface was ok but got boring after a while
