Hi I'm experimenting with the formation settings, hoping to get the best out of my team. I mainly play with one of two formations, 4-4-2 and 4-5-1. Now for a long time me and my friends had only done the 'basics' of formation settings; such as setting formation, postion edit, choosing the team line-up, then turn on a quick setting. Then we got more into it; we used the individual options more often, setting attack/defence levels, selecting roles like man marking. Then there is team option; attack/defence, defence system, team strategy and settings list. And finally your strategy options consisting of a choice of 4 settings, either used manually or semi-auto. This is how my team is set up:-
4-4-2
Team: Settings List is Manual, Line defence, A,A,B,A.
strategy set to Semi-Auto; Centre attack, R.Side attack, Opp.Side attack and counter attack.
Individual: Defenders have no attack arrows, each player is set to high defence.
Midfielders all have an attack arrow pointing forwards, each player is set to low defence.
Forwards both have attack arrows pointing forwrds, with one player having a medium defence (target man being James Beattie) and the other low defence (Marcus Bent).
With this set up i managed to win the master league on 3 stars, beating arsenal by 1 point. It was successful in most games, there was free flowing football but i know i need to tweak it. Obviously i needed to use the 4-5-1 formation for some games and sometimes dropped points to not-so-good opposition, but i have to say it the tinkering worked wonders. Before I did all this the team never really operated that well all over the pitch! Defence got caught on the break, midfield never advanced to attack and into good positions, so the poor forwards never got much service and relied mostly on set pieces to get a goal. It was just too inconsistent. I just think if you can get these settings right for your team you'll really enjoy the football and get the most out of the game, and a setting not used properly seriously screws things up. I see many posts on here about general play such as free kicks and corners etc but not one about the formation settings which is the heart of pes and the key to success if its set up properly. I've only recently started to properly tinker with everything in the formation settings and i'd like to know what works best for you.
