Free Kick Types Explained!

Thanks to Professor Nutmeg at Evo-Web!

Ok people, i was hoping i could get some info on players not already allocated the correct PES3 style: A, B, C, D, E or F. Obviously, there's room for opinion.

A & B are the standard no frills animations
C is the Roberto Carlos Run up, no? (if it isn't, i have C & D the wrong way round) Boskovic has this by default too.
D is the Rivaldo style, right angle, short step up (my favourite)
E is the Beckham
F Mihajlovic has this by default. There's a little hop/skip after he shoots, emphasising a powerful kick. I thought it might perhaps suite JJ Okocha's often audacious style, which i previously had as D.

Can anyone else think of other FK takers, no matter how minor, and post what style they use. Thanks.

Recoba sometimes shoots with method D, sometimes B, I have assigned D to him. Tarnat from ManCity should have C. Boskovic should have B not C. Ze Roberto of Bayern and Brasil must have D. Deisler from Bayern also seems to shoot like Mihajlovic.

You mean during a match ? No, it´s not possible. You can do it between two matches when you play ML though.

Thanks larsson. Any tips on how to kick different styles/ which style works best/ is there a thread where those kicking styles are really explained??

Well, first of course the trajectory is different between eg C and B. However I can´t notice any difference in trajectory between eg B and F. The best thing is to find the style that fits best to your personal taste, use the training mode for that.
Second, there are the general hints for free kicks, which can be used for every style. As you perhaps know you can curve the ball with pressing left or right direction. In addition* you can also make the ball fly faster and with a lower trajectory but higher risk to hit the wall, do that with pressing up direction, however this is only recommended for long distance free kicks, from about 25-27m.
If you press down on the pad you have an opposite effect, the ball flies slower, but higher, and goes down earlier (because the shot is not so hard). Use this for freekicks from 16-20m. Between 20-25m don´t press up or down, only curve the ball normally. This doesn´t mean that you can´t score from 30m without pressing up, those are just little hints from me, you should test that in training mode. And keep in mind that player stats are affected by the form arrows, so if a player has a grey arrow his stats go down, about 10-15 %, also the shooting abilities.

* means that you still should curve the ball, so you would have to press up-right or up-left, not only up ;)

Thanks Larsson. Actually, I thought R1 and R2 controlled the kick power (R1 - hard and powerful, R2 - softer and more aloft). It doesn't make sense that the up and down arrows do the same. I find it that when I press up the kick will usually go up in the air...

Well, R1 and R2 also affect something, at least some people claim that, I never noticed any difference.
As for the up and down pressing it´s like I said

down - higher trajectory, weaker shot
nothing - normal trajectory, normal shot
up - lower trajectory, harder shot

If the ball flies to high for you after pressing up, it´s not because you press up ;), it´s because you´ve filled the shot-bar to much, fill it about to the half.

Yes, there are a few players which use different techniques to take a free kick. I mentioned Recoba as an example, Nedved is another. However I wouldn´t assign C to Nedved, I would take B.

Zidane and Henry are not E, Beckham has E, and he´s the only one. Zidane has B, Henry B or F, Ronaldinho D.

But I see Zidane, Henry taking fks the same way as DB.
Henry's better than Zidane, I reckon.

Really ? I think the Beckham style is unique.
Didn´t score much goals from free kicks with Zidane, also not with Becks, I score often with Pires or Totti.

But Beckham and the French duo both take a 45 degree run-up and shoots.

Their styles look similar, only the rate of scoring is different.
(Beckham scores the most :) )

score almost all of my free kicks w becks or zidane (right side) or rivaldo (left).
and 2 b honest - I can't really say I do the same thing every time, but I score pretty much of them.
Larsson got me confused with the up/down and I was so used to believe the R1/R2 was doing the difference....

you still dont believe him, havnt you tried it yet?

take a freekick with carlos and fill the bar to half way or one "bit" over half way and hold up with either left analogue or on d-pad - it wont go flying over and the power is immense
