roger. I just scored one w zz from 28 meters, holding nothing, aiming to the top right corner and smashing it into the inside of the bar and into the net. but I'm definetly trying the RC kick. get back to you in 10 mins.

Back and to the left.
I find Roberto Carlos is a lot more effective with the D option (the right angle/short step) instead of that daft run up. He has the power and curl ability to hit the top corner every time up to about 35m without the run-up. All in all though I prefer the Beckham run up for right-footed players.

I dont know if anyone has noticed,(sorry if they have) that when you press the directional button up, EVERY single player has the same free kick style. They all fly through the ball. A,B,C,D,E or F dont apply when pressing up.

If you press L1, it curves the ball a lot. You can play with the arrows while pressing L1 so that it makes a high but slow shot, a ground shot a curve shot:::
I personally press L1, put the meter counter in the middle(it may vary depending on the distance) or far away of the goal depending on the kicker's foot and then shot a bit harder than the middle bar and press down and the side you want to curve. It does really work( i score 3 out of 5 shots in a game at 5*)
PD: sometimes the keeper acts like God and stops impossible shots!!!!
Hope it helps

err.....no cristiano ronaldo uses D in real life and also i think that jay-jay sometimes uses the F method.

Nicholas Anelka should be given the one step free kick, and should be suped up for he is a very good free kick taker, (in general he is VERY underrated)

I usually use the analogue stick to curve the shot and then I hold down X after the ball has cleared the wall to help it dip and this usually works for me. I used to use Beckham for all my freekicks but since he's left my team (Man U) I usually use Giggs or Scholes with a moderate rate of success.

im only just getting the hang of free kicks. i hold both r1 and r2 at the same time. i dont know if r1 is just cancelling r2 out but its a very fast swerving free kick. Has anyone scored direct from a corner? i can only hit the cross bar but the keeper dont attempt a save!

Firstly i'd like to say hello. i'm a noob and this is my first post. However i own all 3 pes games and play many matches every day. I've just included a note on FK's as having read this thread there seems to be some confusion about them:

The main difference between holding up/down and R1/R2 is that up/down influences the overall trajectory of the ball whereas R1/R2 effectively influences the trajectory after the ball has passed the wall.

R1 has the effect of "keeping the ball up". By that i mean rather than dipping the ball, the ball has a flatter trajectory after passing the wall and stays in the air longer. Basically it is the opposite of dipping the shot. It is not overly usefull except when hitting v.short fk's(if u don't have a becks or rivaldo on your team). Try aiming at the GK's near post, holding up on the d pad, giving 1/2 power and holding r1. Often these shots hit the post or underside of the bar and go in. At worst the GK will block the ball down, possibly to your waiting player.

R2 however is extremely useful. Basically it "dips" the ball, and if used can make the diff between a goal and another good effort. Personally i use it when taking every FK because it allows me to apply more power to the shot without it going over.

Also, one last thing, i got the impression that some people use R1/R2 by holding them when taking the free kick. In my experience this does nothing. Try pressing it just after letting go of the shoot button and hold it for the duration of the FK.

Hope this helps. if i've confused anyone tell me and i'll try to explain a bit better.
