hey, does anyone ever hit circle instead of square on a free kick to do a cheeky lob, it seems to work pretty well, on pes 4 anyway, i have videos if anyone doesnt know what i mean, what else is a good free kick tactic?

Yeah works all the time in PES4 when your in close. Depending on the kicker, having a player nudge the ball out for the kicker to shoot works a lot of the time as well depending on the situation. As long as it doesnt deflect off the CPU players.

Lob works in WE9 as well, but free kicking in general is alot easier in that game.

If you at either corner of the box (doesn't really work in the middle) aim just outside the far post and give about half power (depending on where you are and what type of freekick your player has) then just as the power bar has stopped push down and hold left or right and curl it into the back of the net. I suggest u practice on training mode before doing it in a match. This works about 50% of the time.

If you have a freekick at the edge of the box, choose a player whose shot power is low. Then aim at the corner of the goal, and then without using any special keys, just shoot. If the shoot bar is somewhat less than half full, often the ball will go in the top corner.

this is a old trick using circle at the edge of the box aim for the corner of goal the one which the keeper is covering stay away from the wall then hit you'r power bar up full and hold down it's a low driven pass with a lot of power some times not all the time you can just beat the keeper.

i like to press select and then push the analog to lay of a person then manualy shoot it. works well with carlos.

i enjoy by pressing select first, and then the one who is supposed to pass, is the one who scores.. know what i mean? I make those sort of goals every now and then.. Usually its Ronnie, great work. Amazingly though, i've NEVER scored a free kick with R.Carlos, Zidane and Beckham (Lampard is the one).. shocking but true

I think I've only scored a free kick by accident, but then the computer seems to hate me, and gives plenty of fouls against me, but very rarely in my favour :(

Can score free kicks for fun on the training ground tho!

Yep within a meter of the box I used to use that but i've masterd curling it round the wall now so I dont use it as much....still looks good though even if it is sly ;)

I do it all the time when I am just outside the box/middle

I do it, but its not really much of a challenge so I don't do it as much and try to curl em' in. Another Freekick tactic I use is get a player with good power and just hit it next to the post where the keeper is standing with a lil' bit of curl outside of the boot, works a treat, 95% of the time any way.

Too bad if freekicks are easier in pes 5. They were almost perfect in pes4. You just had to practise to get good with them. They had a certain logic to them.
