As a 37 year old football game addict I have spent too many hours playing the latest Soccer feasts. From the brilliant Match day on the speccy to the ground breaking Sensible World of Soccer on the Amiga I have loyaly stuck with PES since the PSOne birth and despite a slight flirtation with FIFA last year (It felt like I as cheating on a girlfriend!) the latest instalment of PES has gripped me.

The "Master League online" is a master stroke by Konami, never before has it mattered so much, it seems to meen more when you spent 20 minutes scrolling through pages of shitty left backs with only £350,000 to bolster your back line. I went 15 games without a win and yet a 35 yard worldy to nick a 1-0 victory against someone much better than me was met with a fist clench on the final whistle. The League rankings really works and its a classic "one more game" title.

Never before has a Austrian 72 rated pixelated centre forward called Wallner given a grown man so much pleasure (132 goals 200 odd games)

PES we salute you!!!!!!!

Nice story! I too loved my totally unknown players whilst building my team up. Now that I'm in division 2 its funny to see teams who use some of those mediocre players I did for like a month or two.

ah, the memories!

Ha- great to hear some people actually enjoying the game! I remember 'cheating' on sensi World of soccer with the Amiga 'Kick Off 2' game which was like pinball!

Sensi, Football Manager (previously Football Manager) and of course Pro Evo are my hattrick of life-consuming footy games. My pinnacle of achievement was winning the World and European cups with San Marino on Sensi (if you played the game you'd know just how tough that was! £15k rated players against £15mill!) and winning against the odds in the MLO gives me the same sort of elation.

Looking forward to next years installment now too!

Actually, after playing against hundreds of humans that seems as a piece of cake ;)

But thats the case with every game.
