I was all "geared" up to chance my accel and break to the shoulder buttons but never booted up the game last night. I think anything would be better than x and square that I am using now. Nifty mentions using the right analog for accel (forward) and brake (back). this sounds interesting.

I am also thinking of R2 accel, R1 break so I don't have to manipulate my forefinger on my steering hand. I think this may give a better sim feel of driving with one foot. see you soon Mak.

The analogue on R1 will give you nowhere near as much control. R2 & L2 are the only real way to go. You may find the stick for acc/brake a bit vague as Nifty said, but trying out the various methods is the only way you'll know for sure.

Either way, all options are better than X & square!

as soon as I read your post to Mak on the trigger springs it made me rethink R1 for break in lieu of L2

I am still playing this game too much out of the box. the only thing I changed was to get rid of any control for the horn.

One other little thing that might help, you can get clip-on extensions for the trigger buttons! the curved nature of the R+L2 buttons means that prolonged use of these can cause strain to the old digits. I got a set of these things with a magazine some years ago & they are a blessing (although I fear they are in the same place as my b/tooth headset that I can't find )

They are definitely a love/hate thing though.

Yes, there the ones I was looking at fick.
Seen as you own a 360 as well fick, how would you say these compare to the xbox triggers for racing games and shooters?

For me, the 360 controller is much better for FPS & racing. Saying that though, I used to hate it when I fist got one, being so used to PS controllers :D

Now though, I just find the PS controller a little small for my man hands.

Just had a play with the room set-up. Pretty easy and straightforward.

If Nifty hasn't, then I'll set up a room for some practice later tonight.. will call it Pesgaming Test - Invite only

Abu - sorry about the racing line comment, was not meant to be derogatory, didn't know how much experience you had, or that you were a higher level in offline than I :D

I didn't look at your comment in that way, I thought you were just asking the question in general.
Also Fick, whats your best lap time with the Mugen Motul around Leguna Seca, mine is 1min 43secs eventhough I tried it 3 times.

And regarding the post you made before, I too had problems with the PS3 controller as they were too small for my hands. I purchased this one from Argos and it helped a bit...

1:36.323, bear in mind that i've tuned it, then backed the PP to 450, leaving it at 215bhp.

I'll hopefully be online at 8:30. If not, I'll be searching for a faster car than the one that I currently have as Fick overtook me with ease

Then I need to practice quick if I can even be in distance of finishing that quick

:D It's all in the tuning. Looking at Nifty's time, I'm still a second away per lap, so I've still got to find a few legal corners to cut yet!

Be online very soon, Fick.

And I'll be off until 9:30/10pm :D the missus is home earlier tonight & will want some non console based attention!!

For anyone that wants to have a practice 'cruise' to test their cars under competitive conditions, do the following:

1. Add polski_sklep to your PSN friends' list. That's me, by the way.

2. Once I've accepted, go to GT career mode and then click on Community. Then scroll until you find me (polski_sklep; I'm level 31 as it ranks it this way) and click my icon.

3. Click on the coffee cup icon labelled Lounge and choose Join.

4. Once in, go to your garage, choose your car, tune as necessary and then hit go to track. You'll only be allowed on the track if your car meets the requirements.

5. Once you have gone to the track, choose 'free run' (middle option, do NOT click Start Race) and you'll be able to time trial your car. Quickest lap times of existing lobby members are ranked and available to be beaten (it also provides you splits against the current pole-position sitter).

The room has the relevant restrictions - only assist allowed is ABS; PP limit at 450 and the best tyres allowed are racing hards.

Tyre wear, fuel depletion and damage are on, as well as penalties for short cuts.

Perfect test conditions - get me added and get involved!

If, for whatever reason, I am away from my PS3 this evening (i.e. during the football), I will leave the lounge open so you may still join and drive around. I won't necessarily be there to see you, though.

Holy Crap, I forgot about the Chelsea match!

I'll probably won't be online till 9 then unless the match turns into a midfield battle or something like that

Not the prettiest of vehicles, but offering a whopping 204 BHP alongside only 900kg of weight (PP = 450) it just clocked a 1:36.173.

Still almost a full second off my Toyota Altezza time. But the Altezza is a Touring Car, to be fair.

Nifty - I lost myself in the acronymns - PP set at 450 for your time trial, what is that again? oh wait a second - is that pounds?

PP stands for Performance Points. It is the game's built-in method of ranking cars on a pound-for-pound system. Therefore, cars of varying power/weight can be closely matched up based on whether they have similar PP.

Any time you view a car, it's PP will be displayed. You can also sort your garage by PP.

I tell you what, this game is so much better fully updated, to when it was first released. Like another game.
