We would expect nothing more :D

I should be hitting the track in the not too distant. Hopefully my phone wont ring this time and make me lose concentration on the last corner again

I've added Nifty, Abu and Iron. You have requests waiting for you. I can't add Mak as I have already met my quota for cheeky slapheads from Manchester.

rrrrinnnng!!!

Wasn't funny at the time! Was a good 0.5secs ahead with one corner to go, then my phone rang. You know how you can get really engrossed in something? Well, I was concentrating that hard that when the phone rang I jumped and actually dropped the controller.

Need to turn it off in future.

Really naffed off at the minute, after that last session, I still can't get near Nifty's time in any of the cars I set up offline. Just so you can see what times I'm doing away from the net:

You've seen all these cars tonight Nifty, with no changes to the set-ups. You experiencing something similar?

Not a bad idea that Mak.

Nifty, If I swing my Altezza to you, will you copy your set up and send it back?

I wonder if there are some vehicles that are regional; I can't find the Toyota Altezza in the dealerships. or the muten m.

and another question for you level 30 drivers (you know who you are), if a vehicle has a PP of 456-460, we can just tone some equipment down to get it to below 450 can't we?

Yes, unless the stock PP is higher, in which case you cannot and would only be able meet the PP requirement by restricting the power through the engine part of the tuning menu.

To pick up the other part of your post - there are a total of four ways to acquire new cars.

1. New Car Dealership. These are all 'premium' cars in that they have a full cockpit view and there are about 200 (more-or-less) in total. About 15 of these can be race-modified (special option in GT Auto which changes the paint job and adds various parts).

2. Used Car Dealership. These are all 'standard' cars. None of them can be race-modified and they mostly ship with miles on the clock. However, this is where most of the cars can be found. At any one time, there are only a certain amount of vehicles available in the UCD. Every time a day passes (in-game), 6 new cars appear here at random (with the bottom 6 no longer being available). Each in-game day passes when you compete in one race, attempt one license test or go for a practice spin. Check back here regularly and this is where you'll find most of the cars (1,000+ variants).

3. Online Collector's Dealership. Open to all, the Online Collector's Dealership offers a certain group of rare and/or valuable cars to all users connected online. These change periodically and the same cars are offered, at the same time, to all users. From what I can tell, a Formula GT (Gran Turismo's own Formula 1-style car) is permanently on offer here, although the paint-job does change periodically.

4. Winning prizes through race participation. Every time you win an event, you are rewarded with a car. These are then collected through the "Ticket" option. You are also awarded cars at checkpoints throughout the game (reaching a certain level, driving a certain number of miles, etc) and the tickets for these cars are redeemed the same way. You are also awarded prizes (cars) for winning the special challenges.

I am currently working on putting together a 'stock garage' which will list cars that all members of the PESGaming Racing Club should own. This way, we can all compete in the various events I devise.

Watch out for the thread, coming soon.

so did you win that Toyota Altezza because I couldn't find it in any of the dealerships. edit: i just read you online dealership notes closer and noticed ou said cars rotate so the Altezza must not have been there on the one day I looked.

a stock garage will be nice to have. I have an Audi something or other right now that comes in at 430pp and ~245hp, but I was getting out raced in straightaways on sunday night so bad. maybe it is just tuning or you and abu were using something with much greater in PP since we were just clowning around.

Currently, I have a tuned Yaris which initially had 177 bhp and 385pp. I tuned it too 276 bhp and 450 pp. Its drivetrain is FF however its braking isn't as smooth and efficient as my motul mugen so I just have to hope an FF car pops in Used Car dealerships

Can't remember how I got mine :hmm: Might be a gift car from a race series as I certainly doubt I bought it.

You'll find that Audi is probably a weighty beast (circa 1400kgs?), so if the other guys are driving something lighter, chances are the power/weight ratio was in their favour. The 4 wheel drive won't help either, unless you modify the car so you can adjust the drive to mainly RWD.

I have 90,000 credits available, don't know if I should buy something new, or tune what I have. I think my Audi is 4wd - that might not be advantageous to accel and speed but I don't know enough to decide.

I went on last night to race and spent over an hour looking at cars and tuning ideas. never did drive.

edit: @fick - just saw your comment about 4wd....thanks.

How's the brakes? You getting a lot of understeer?

There are a couple of options. You can either upgrade the suspension (if you haven't already), adjust the brake balance a small amount to the front (beware though that you'll struggle to turn in braking hard), or you can always add 20kgs ballast to the front. This works really well on Elises by the way.

Just to clarify my points (now that I'm in front of my PS3):

The Online Collector's Dealership features a total of 20 cars at any one time. These are the same for all gamers and will be refreshed every few months by the GT5 staff. At the moment, the theme seems to be classic rally cars (although there are others, too).

The Used Car Dealership is where the real magic lies. There are a total of 30 cars in here at any one time. This list is unique to your own copy of the game and is generated at random from all available cars in the game - although there will be some cars that are more likely to appear than others.

Every time you compete in a race, 6 of the 30 cars get refreshed. The 6 new ones show up as "New." For every five races you do, you have a completely refreshed set of 30 to look through. Note, it doesn't matter which races you compete in (it is effectively 6 visits to any track(s)).

I have a feeling I bought mine from the Used Car Dealership. I have just consulted the list of all the race-series prize cars you receive and the Toyota Altezza doesn't appear (but, in some cases, the prizes are a random car from a set group of a few, i.e. variable).

I would recommend playing through the GT career mode and progressing. The cars you will come across will be quicker and quicker and you'll start to get a feel for the game more and more. It also means you get to drive a range of cars you wouldn't otherwise (with all the shitty one-make race series in Beginner/Amateur levels) - you might just fall in love with one.

As a tip to make money - the Seasonal Events and Special Events generally offer the biggest payouts in terms of time invested vs. money returned. And with more money comes more cars to buy. :D

You'll eventually get to a point where you have plenty of money and it's no longer an issue. I sometimes buy cars from the Used Dealership just because I like the colour and want to respray one of my other cars that colour (every time you acquire a car, you also acquire one paint chip of that car's colour, which can be used to respray another car in your garage the same colour).

I will start playing this over the next few days but as I've not played the game before I'm not sure where to start. Are there any modes which you guys would suggest I try out to begin with? I really have no idea what to do.
