Some of the special events are pretty hard, Same old AI but there's one where everyone's in supercars (you get a Lamborghini I think) and the track is night time and it has a lot of tight corners that I struggle to even see coming.
Give the special events a go, you can earn a nice bit of coinage off of them. I said it earlier in this thread but there's a nice easy Ferrari race that gives you over 100k Coins for first place.
I had my first experience of this on Sunday, was great fun and very challenging against human opponents but it's nice because they do make mistakes and you get to capitalise on them.

The damage kicks in at a certain level. Stupid idea? Definitely. Just another reason the game fell well below expectations.
The game does get harder, but not due to improved AI, more to do with a complete lack of qualifying, an imbalanced grid and the fact the PS pad isn't the greatest for control of some of the twitchier, high powered cars.

^ you should have seen this car nifty was driving around the track early sunday afternoon when he and I were just cruising around (with me also receiving a good tutorial). I think it was doing 120mph around those hairpin Laguna turns. not sure what it was but it sounded like a beehive as it passed me.

Can we do a little competition to see where I'm at compared to you guys?
-Go into arcade
-Laguna seca
-Pick Zondo R 09
SETTING
-automatic or manual
-racing hard front and back
-driving line off
-traction 5
-skid recovery off
-active steering off
-ASM off
-ABS 1
-grip reduction low
-mechanical damage high
You get 10 laps to post your score.
You cannot restart!
Even if you wrap up and fuck your car up straight away you must still post your fastest lap.
If you dont follow these rules you are only cheating yourself.
Good luck !

On my last lap with a big lead on my ghost and turned retarded on the last corner.

Did a few more laps then to see the best time I can get. 1.25.269 I got.
Hopefully you guys won't come and embarrass my lap times.

Just did three laps and fucking hell I haven't driven any of those quick cars for a while.
First two laps were awful. Third lap finally got into my stride and clocked a 1:22.491.
Think the Zonda can easily go around Laguna Seca sub-1:20 though. My third was far from perfect.

Yeah, I've never driven the Zonda before.
I'm all about the shit, slow cars. They are also a leveller for weaker players (people who can't handle a Civic will not handle a Zonda, or similar).
My Toyota Altezza goes around Laguna Seca only 10 or so seconds slower than the Zonda.

I did mate just then. Really looking forward till I compete in races like that.
I spent a load of money on my civic upgrading individual parts not realising you just need to race modify it.
i've got a fully kitted out bmw m3 I think , it cost about 100g plus spent avout 150 g kitting it out.
The car is immense and rapes the super cars apart from circle like tracks because it tops out at 188.
I just dont get the same buzz out of driving the super kitted cars with amazing grip. I much prefer trying to tame wild animals like the zonda because of how much more concentration they require.

From what I remember you need to keep checking the UCD, which shuffles 6 new cars every time you race, until one pops up.

Unfortunately I did this and ended up picking up a Honda S500 '63, not realising that the other cars in the race would be mostly '79 sports cars and would burst past me at the start faster than we did with Iron last weekend. I'll just have to keep an eye out for a car then which is a bit annoying as it's only a level 2 race that I need it for.

Can you not buy some upgrades for that S500 and get it up to scratch?
Generally at that level, any car should do it.
I think I had an Isuzu or some other terrible make car that I made do with.
Is there nothing in my garage that would do the job?

Why do only some gifted cars from the a.i show up in the garage and others disappear when you change your car?
