You would think so. But;

GTA I (PS1), GTA II (PS1), GTA III (PS2).

Then there is GTA: London (PS1), GTA: Vice City (PS2), GTA: San Andreas (PS2).

So they haven't officially called one of them GTA IV, that might be the reason behind it.

If you recall before Vice City came out the magazines said GTA IV and the same when San A. came out but they have officially said this will be IV so there you go, best website for games is........(see my thread):ninja:

well first some notes on the series. the different games go.......

gta
gta london 1969
gta london 1961 (very unknown but official)

gta 2

gta 3
gta vice city
gta san andreas

liberty city stories
vice city stories
san andreas stories (not announced but almost certain)

now gta 4........ well the big question is where will it be? despite alot of claims it probably won't be in london. the big money is actually on carcer city. the city from manhunter, mentioned in vice city (which put it in the same game universe) and it may have been the city in gta 2.

Wasn't that where the bank was located that the guy from GTA3 robbed in the intro?

I'd like GTA 4 to be set in a fictional big Asian city.

Why?
Because:
- Big City Light and Neon signs at night!
- Great opportunity to make use of asian pop-culture references, like certain movie genres (HK triad movies, martial arts flicks, etc)
- A nice blend of poor, older areas and newer, richer areas.

I'd love to see them mix up the best of Hong Kong with Tokyo and Singapore and perhaps some of the stuff from Bangkok (like the little 3-wheel taxis which were in Ong-Bak)

-You can easily blend in different gangs, like triads, yakuza, 'ninjas', high-tech rich gangs, and cults, like religious cults and shit like that.

If you set it in the very near future, you can put in stuff that was in the Akira movie/manga, like those cool SecurityBalls (only in the manga)
Plus stuff that's in Ghost in the Shell (anime series) etc etc.
With the outback areas around the city (or cities) focussing more on traditional/basic asian life.

-Instead of a rumoured Bigfoot that doesnt exist, we'll have a rumoured Totoro that doesn exist! :p

An asian city would be the perfect backdrop for a big involving story about a life of crime...
It will also give rockstar the perfect opportunity to show off what they can do graphically on the next-gen systems...

However, I'm affraid they'll just go with some American or boring European ity again...

Good idea Yi - but yeah, I can see Rockstar opting once again for a Western country! Porbably because it would be easier for them.

^Brillient idea that, would love to see it.

Would like too see GTA:London in 3D but it would probaly just be like The Getaway (Mint game too)

Remember getting GTA:SA on day early with my mate and playin it for 36 hours solid, don't think we completed 3 missions before we decided to try eveything out, I remember getting excited about the bikes and the eating part, just wonder what they are going to produce that is better than everything SA gave, will be a hard but great achivement!

Seen as it's a next-gen game you should be able to fly, walk, drive or bike to a diferent country. I'd be happy if it was the same as GTA: SA but with online play. But i'll be getting it the day it comes out no matter what.

If it is online your Punk ass character will get killed constantly by my super character, I will run you over on a moped

What the dillio!? Just you wait untill Saint's Row is out, then you'll see. I am going to get the fastest car on the game and run you over, then tie you to it and go over a jump and then I'll blow it up with a rocket launcher and teabag your rotting corpse.

September 1st.

Yeh but no offense the gangs will be all chinese and would be speaking in english to make it not use subtitles for the whole game but i thought maybe a made up city on the East Coast US and havin street racing: chinese gangs, american gangs and mexican with a lot of robbery type missions and street racers as well as the old shoot out missions.

it would be nice for the new gta to be set in a new city and would also be good if you could hop in a jet and visit all the other citys from previous games.
