What CD to Burn?

Can anyone tell me what CD they used to burn the image on to?
I read somewhere in this thread that a normal recordacle 700Mb CD would suffice. When I burned the image on, and put in my PS2 it said it invalid PS2 disc.

Man this aint easy at all. + ANyone got this working with a PSTwo?

Any CDR will work. Make sure to burn as slow as possible.

You should really try patching it for the DVD before you go further and try it on CD.

What method do you use to play backup/patched disks?

Zyg,
Hey whats hapnin man. I did try DVD first they're TDK DVD+R, 1-4x RW 4.7Gb (Data/Video). But when I put it in Alcohol cant see it. Tomorrow Im gona try it again but with Nero & see what happens. And also for some reason the lowest speed I can burn at is 2x. Ive also burned the .bin as it doesnt accept the .cue as a valid image to burn.

(Quote "What method do you use to play backup/patched disks?")
Im using swap-magic 3.6 with slim-switch. The parts I got are different to the ones on their website so when I try to mount swap-magic with the flip up the cd should start spinning but it doesnt. Not sure why but Ive mailed the dude to ask why?....

If you want to be fully informed you should read all of this thread and the basic patching guide. Then you'll see that RW disks do not work well on some PS2s so you'll have to use normal DVD-Rs.
Minimum speed depends on your drive as well as the disks.

Ive got this working. Thx for your advice and patience. I have a Laptop with XP + a G5 Mac, so... I patched it on XP and transfered it to my MAC via LAN ethernet switch. And burnt it using Toast Platinum. The tutorial however seems very long-winded. A lot of steps I missed out.

I simply used DVDdecrypter to read the original PES4
Patched it with ppf-o-matic with jonboyos patch.
Sent it to my MAC via LAN to burn the ISO on Toast!

As easy as that. I get all the updated menus, footballs and its refreshing to hear different music other than the annoying part-time rock-band music. Ive already got an option file I was using before with updated transfers & kits, unlocked shop etc. So what I want to know is whats all the import/export of the AFS files in apache for? I didnt do this part. I can still hear all the chants in the game, see all the updated Ad-Boards.

Also my mistake was as you advised, using a DVD+R RW. I bought some Maxwell DVD-Rs 4.7Gb. The other stupid thing I done was to use the CD to boot up the DVD-R once it was burned (duuuh), so my PSTwo was saying invalid disc & by this time I was getting really p*ssed off. Then I had a light-bulb over the head moment and used the DVD Disc that comes with swap-magic instead to boot it and that was that. Fantastic work by JonBoyo.

When PES4 starts though I thought the music by U2 would play with a new intro. Is there a new intro? Is this where the apache thing comes in? Also there are other patches on you.are.my.god.free.fr, apart from the jb30.10.04pes4. rars.

What do these ones do? they are called jb30.10to17.11&database &
jb30.10to17.11.rar.

Also let me know if anyone still wants a tutorial on how to burn the patched-ISO on a MAC using Toast and i'll get one done when I have some free-time...

peace..

Will this guide work for all ps2 games or is it just PES4? I don't have a DVD burner so it would rock for me if I could use this guide for all games and use my CD burner instead :p

No clue about that. It's hard enough getting it to work for the game the guide is for. It's much easier when there is a ripkit that converts the files for you - like we had for PES3.

I just have to ask. You patch your ORIGINAL iso file and you only extract e_text.asf and o_text.asf to the new iso file, is that really enough? I thought you had to extract the sound files etc to get the whole patch into the new iso

When I did this, I used jonboyo's patch (30.10 and the 30.10 -> 17.11) and my final .bin file only turned out as 805 mb..

And my .cue file which was created with CDmage didn't work. It didn't even come out as a .cue file, and nero couldn't find it. I got hold of a cuemaker and made one from the .bin file anyhow. I hope it'll work

Please do not keep replying to yourself as the forum looks very messy that way. Click on the EDIT button in the bottom right and add anything you need to.

The point of ripping is to reduce the size of the image. Music from the patch would make the image too big and so the original sound is modified (reduced in quality and size).

Sounds fine. Unless you did something wrong which led to everything from this point on not working?

It should give you a cue file unless you did something wrong. The only other thing I can think of that may cause that is something wrong with the program or the pc.

Sorry Zygalski. I'm just so frustrated because I love pes4 and I really want this to work. I bought Swap Magic 3.6 and a slide tool today, so I'm really eager to make it work. It didn't work though. I'll try the whole process again and see if I succeed this time. It said "Not a valid PS2 disc" in Swap Magic when I tried

For any problems with burning games and using the slide tool etc the guys here http://forums.afterdawn.com/ are really helpful. They have suggestions for good DVD's to use etc. Just use the 'Search' function at the top of the page.

I have followed the instuctions but when i go to burn (with Nero) it says "unexpected file format" can anyone shed any light on my problem?

The file you select for Nero is the cue file. In explorer, ight click on the cue file and open it with notepad, then copy and paste the contents into a post here.

a) Run the PES_4_PAL_Rip_Engine.exe file located in this c:\PES4DVD folder.
This opens a DOS window and converts files. This takes a few minutes so wait.

Wait and you know have a new ISO file in this folder. This is your RIPKIT ISO.

1) I opened PES_4_PAL_Rip_Rngine.exe,
2) Then i clicked "DVD/ISO !!"
3) A Message appeared after 2 seconds saying "Done. Burn Direc...BlahBlah"

But i dont see a new ISO file in the folder. What do i do ?

Like I said, this process takes several minutes to make the ISO so if it only took 2 seconds, something has gone wrong earlier, either due to you or your PC.
Delete everything and start again.
