What do you think? How do you compare the two?

And mods, don't remove this. It's not a dig at either ggme, just want the opinion of someone who is willing to try out both games before making their mind up.

And tell me which you prefer and why.

i havent played the pes demo yet but i have played the fifa one and, to be honest, it seemed almost identical to the last one in my opinion. The fact that Be a Pro career mode lasts only 4 years has really turned me off it- i would love starting in league 2 and trying to work my way through the leagues- fifa should be able to let you do that as, unlike pro, it has the lower english leagues but only giving you 4 years means it isnt worth it.

I was always going to buy pro but was tempted to get FIFA as well, i've now decided not to bother. they obviously want to sell the next edition by saying "now be a pro mode lasts 20 seasons"- they could have done it this time but opted not to just to help sell the next one imo, so fuck them. A 21 season career mode on pro it is then!

guzzler, i thought the most important thing was gameplay in a football game?

4 seasons is plenty if the gameplay is up to scratch which I think it is, after playing it today.

20 seasons with average gameplay is pointless.

The final fifa 09 is different to the demo. You should rent it at least.

I personally am not impressed with konami's effort.

I'm on PC therefore the FIFA 09 demo was crap and the full game almost certainly will be.

The PES demo is fine. It could do with one or two fixes but FIFA suffered from too many issues with me and I just couldn't get into it despite actually wanting to.

yeah fifa isnt for PC. you need to play it on Next Gen.

well you said it yourself, fifa 09 on pc. You cant judge until you play the game on ps3/xbox 360, which is a totally different and unrecognisable game. Maybe rent it...I couldnt get into the fifa 09 pc version because its rubbish, but the pes demo compared to the fifa 09 ps3 game is a no contest imo.

i've played both demos, im getting fifa tomorrow cause played the full version at a friends this morning and loved it, its so fluid and you have so much control of the players, fifa has improved so much in the last 2 years. played the PES demo and wasnt all that convinced so much so i cancelled my pre-order. think i'll rent it out then see if its got any better. the demo feels rigid and kinda dull. i like the player faces they look awesome. i think konami are struggling to make the leap from last gen to next gen. if i was playing on PC then PES would win hands down but on my Xbox360 its fifa now for me.

I have both demos. I haven't played the fifa one in a bit. When i get home from work im going to alternate playing PES for 1 game then fifa 1 game and see which one i enjoy the most.
My first impressions of both were positive.

Fifa has great atmosphere/graphics but physics are odd and shots are floaty. *I also like the way the players feel.

PES has incredible physics (shooting is fun) but disapointing atmosphere/graphics. *The moving is clunky (as in previous versions) beacaue of only 8 directions.

Well see which one grabs me after saturating myself back and forth.

I much prefer the Pro Evo demo to Fifa, i never got into the Fifa 09 as theres never any space the play football so its all one touch passing in Fifa thats why they've focussed on passing so much.
Pro Evo has the flow of attacking entertaining football which is the main reason football as a whole is entertaining.

first time i like PES soundtrack :D, i have fifa 09 and i played the demo of pes, so far fifa is better somehow, but pes has improved since last year.

Im liking the pes demo, and no im no fanboy, im getting both fifa09 and pes09 for different reasons- fifa09 for online BAP 10vs10 (360), pes09 for single player and master league and CL and easy edit mode(ps3), so get both for different reasons and enjoy the footie games, the better the competiton is, then us as consumers will win in the end.
