Help fixing a Freezing issue!

Hello. I have PES 5 for my PC, and I have played it for many, many hours on end without so much as a stutter in the framerate!

But now, I will try to play a match in any mode, Master League, friendly, cup, anything, it freezes after a few seconds on the lineup selection screen. I can move the cursor for a few seconds usally, but then I cannot move it any longer. The music continues and doesn't repeat at all, I just cannot move the cursor.

I do use a controller, as well as an option file I've downloaded ages ago and adjusted myself. I messed with these two since it's started, but to no avail. I doubt either of these are the issue anyway, since I have successfully played with both for so long.

Can anyone help me? I'm dying without my beloved PES.

I have the same problem in my PES 5 Master League. When I get to the lineup selection screen, the controls on my 360 pad and on the keyboard just don't work.

I may have a solution:

I found a fix that works now and hopefully will keep working. Before starting a match, you need to go into Free Training and press to the Left when the control screen appears to make sure you're controlling your Top XI. For some reason the game is defaulting to having the CPU control both teams.

Then when you go play a real match, the game shouldn't freeze.
