Help! i have no defence

hey all;

so i'm struggling big time with the pes08 defence system... teams are getting 15-20+ shots on goal on the regular against me... and its getting old. it doesnt seem like many of the defensive concepts from 07 have made their way to 08.

i try to stay patient and not attack a every player when they have the ball... but it seems like they just dribble right through my defense.

that and i lose possession almost immediately after receiving the ball... it seems like they send 2-3 guys at you all the time.. i feel like i have no time to see whos open.

i know its only been 2 days (i'm in the states) since i got 08, but seriously... i'm about to blow a gasket if the games are at least competitive.

i am able to score some goals, which took forever to do when i first started with 07, but i can't stop anybody.

anyone have any tips or advice or tactics to help me out?

(fwiw, i use milan in a 4-3-2-1 or 4-1-3-2). thank in advance.

Best defense is offense. If you keep the ball and keep the pressure on, you won't be attacked as much. Also there's this thing that the CPU loves doing.

By holding the R2 button as you move with the ball you can do some sort of pace control and easily dribble as you look for openings. Very much like the Fifa pace control

Also use the counter attack a lot.
When I play with Milan, I use 4-2-3-1 with 2 wide men rather than 2 AMF.

Or 4-4-2 diamond

thanks... i think you mean the slow dribble, which i've tried.

my other problem is that i seem to have issues holding onto possession. i can maybe get 2-4 passes before i'm overwhelmed by the opponent.

i'm sure as i play it more i'll get better and things will get easier, but its terribly frustrating ATM

Midfield is the key.Try and sign a big midfield player who can win headers and get stuck in and a really pacey one that can pass the ball and score goals.Drenthe for real madrid turns into a unbelievable dfensive midfield player and he scores incredible goals

well, i was right... all it took was a bit more time with the game... my possession has risen considerably in the last 2 days... from around 48% to usually now 55+%....

i just needed to adjust to the new game a bit more... i'm now holding opponents shots down to usually around or under 10, which is a huge improvement from before.

my problem has now become that i spend ALL my time in midfield, and am not putting that possession to good use by getting to goal...

so i'm still frustrated, since i'm now losing 1-0 instead of 3-0 as before.

in any case, i'm sure i'll start getting more shots soon. any tips?

get fast wing players. they are an easy way to get to the attacking third. dont be scared to take shots from distance, they go in easier than you think. i wouldnt be too worried though..give it a week and soon you will be able to see holes in the opposing defense.

a good trick is doing and arial thru ball on the wings..often times opposing wing backs are cought too up front so look for that. other than that just give it some time. dont be scared to take risks up front.

i noticed that last night (arial through balls on the wings)... works great.

i also noticed that i'm holding the ball too much... trying to get the perfect shot or pass, instead of taking a chance. frustrated the hell out of me last night... i had 66% possession in a match but only had 6 shots with 5 on goal, and just one score.

i definitely just need to spend more time with the game... which is more difficult than i wished it was

i'm pretty good at crosses... but i score them all ways.

and my fortune has turned up! last 4 matches have been wins, 3-2ex, 1-0, 2-0, 1-0...

so my defence has stiffened, and my attack is starting to flow... its been enjoyable the last 2 evenings.

It just takes a few weeks to get into the hang of things.I taught the game was crap at first but now im on it every evening.
Walcott and nani turn into very good wingers if your looking for some.very fast too
Drenthe for real madrid and play him as a dmf, scores goals and is just brilliant.

yeah, i'm on a roll now! can't wait to get a few more exhibition matches under my belt before kicking up a notch to the ML!

although, i may play the serie a "league" once first before diving into the ML.

but certainly am glad that my overall play has improved dramatically
