I got that fx5900u! Well I said Id let ya know how I got on with it.
Im pleased to report its a blinder!!
And the issue of chugging graphics without upping the process priority...Didnt go away.
BUT! Its got nothing to do with the priority.
Its to do with Refresh Rates.
I have mine fixed and forced to 85mhz in Forceware (53.03)and every game I have and every benchmark I run caps out at 85fps.
So I know that 85 is being forced by the driver. The monitor OSD reports this also.
PES3, however, for some reason best known to itself (and now possibly to do with being an emulation kinda thing) tries to force 60mhz back. Its the only game Ive got that does it.
By Alt-tabbing back to the desktop forces the 85mhz again and then alt-tabbing back to PES3 in turn forces it to 85mhz and it then it runs supersmooth.
The reason we thought that that upping of the priority was fixing the chugging was in fact totally wrong. It was the alt-tabbing to use that procedure that was fixing it!
I have not been able to resolve this issue. Everything else just does as its told and runs at 85mhz.
So if you are getting chugging in PES try alt-tabbing out and back again.
It works every time for me.
Cheers
